Title: Snooker Post by: Sark79 on October 23, 2006, 01:03:11 AM Is anyone following this at the moment? Stephen Hendry is World Number 1 again. I am not his biggest fan, but you have to respect a guy who has been in the sport as long as him and still feels the motivation to get out there and practice. In many ways he is similar to Schumacher, Until today , he had been competing in motor sport since the age of four ( Kart track his Father owned ) and at 37 he is still as motivated to win as anyone alive. Hendry is the same.
Title: Re: Snooker Post by: BrumBilly on October 23, 2006, 07:01:07 PM I think Hendry is the best snooker player ever. I wasn't keen on him when he first arrived on the scene but he won me over in moving the game on. His game was phenomenal. Others have played with more flair/ease but if I had to have a player play for my life I'd be picking Hendry.
Title: Re: Snooker Post by: Jedwick on October 24, 2006, 12:42:40 AM I love it when the snooker is on, always something good to watch after 11 at night!! Hendry is without doubt one of the sports greats but I dont think he is the best player at the mo, I know ranking wise he's no.1 but I'd still pick Williams, Higgins and O'Sullivan. I think Williams will be back to his best this season and at 12-1 he is a fantastic bet for the worlds, He has been on the slide the last few years but this was to do with him having a couple of kids and not concentrating on Snooker, now he's playing seriously again he will be something special, shame he dropped out of the grand prix. O'Sullivan is looking OK but nothing special, he made some massive flukes but he will always be dangerous, Higgins is the best match player in the world in terms of all round game, Doherty is also a nice cheeky E/W bet for the worlds, not the most entertaining player but very composed and has a good record at the worlds, bet u wish u hadnt got me started on the snooker now, i love it!!!!
Title: Re: Snooker Post by: BrumBilly on October 24, 2006, 10:54:53 PM Agreed, Hendry isn't 'the best' right now. The fact he's still mixing it with the likes of O'Sullivan is testimony to his greatness. Same can be said for Davis, who'd be in my top 3/4.
