Title: Help with Firefox please Post by: marcro on October 23, 2006, 09:53:16 AM I have just moved from IE to Firefox. I use the "Show unread posts since last visit" link when on the forum and for some reason, this link does not appear when accessing the forum using Firefox, has anybody else noticed this?
Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Ginger on October 23, 2006, 09:59:17 AM I'm using Firefox and can see the link, I know on other forums (that use the same as blonde) you can turn off the user info being displayed but I can't seem to find the option on here.
Sorry not much help :dontask: Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Sheriff Fatman on October 23, 2006, 10:08:14 AM I use Firefox and this link is there for me.

I've had a poke about and can't find an option in the board settings to get rid of this. Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Bongo on October 23, 2006, 10:21:16 AM Same here. I even logged in with IE and checked it was in the same place and it was.
Is it possible it wasn't there as there were no new posts since your last visit? (could be if you were browsing blonde in IE whilst you installed FF) Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: marcro on October 23, 2006, 10:27:06 AM Thanks for the replies guys. I am using this at the office and they set all kinds of restrictions which probably cause this, e.g. I can't check and download updates. I will try this out when I get home. Good to know that this is not a restriction with firefox though.
Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: ifm on October 23, 2006, 11:01:28 AM There is an arrow directly to the left of the "home help search" etc. buttons, try pressing that.
Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Bongo on October 23, 2006, 11:51:34 AM I'm told that version 2 of firefox will be released tomorrow so it may be worth waiting until then to try it out as it will have lots of new features etc.

Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: marcro on October 23, 2006, 05:04:18 PM Everything works OK at home. I used the Autofill option provided via the Google bar on IE which I found very useful, saves typing in name, address, email, etc. each time you fill out a form. I have not been able to find this function on Firefox, does anyone know if this is supported?

If that's not it then there will probably be an extension, or you can use googlebar for FF. Just a quick note, if you also select FF to remember your passwords, make sure you set a master password. Otherwise they'll all be sitting there in a plain text file and if your computer is comprimised they'll be there in full view. Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Royal Flush on October 24, 2006, 09:54:50 PM grrr you can't close the tab you are on with the button on the top right 1 any more, you have to close each tab by clicking on the tab red x itself
Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Bongo on October 24, 2006, 09:58:43 PM you can middle click on the tab in the tabbar to close it. Or set up a mouse gesture.
Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Royal Flush on October 24, 2006, 10:24:04 PM Yeah i just want that single button back, the one that the old firefox used for closing tabs, i don't like the individual ones.

In every discussion forum I've seen about the new Firefox, people have mentioned this. It wound me up as well - why did they feel the need to change it? Anyway, allow me to rid you of this curse. Type about:config into the address bar Scroll down to browser.tabs.closeButtons Right-click on it and select Modify Type in 3 into the box Begone cursed little tab closing icons Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Royal Flush on October 24, 2006, 11:58:28 PM Yeah i just want that single button back, the one that the old firefox used for closing tabs, i don't like the individual ones. Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Bongo on October 25, 2006, 04:36:37 PM After accidentally clicking one of the Xs i have also changed them.
For the record I found: 0: X on the active tab 1(default): X on all tabs 2: no X on any tab 3: Old style X in the top right. I went for 2. Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: kinboshi on October 25, 2006, 05:38:45 PM Gone back to 1.5 for the time being. Too many issues with the extensions I use (22 of them). They will all be updated soon enough for 2.0, but I'll have to miss out on the new good stuff to keep my old good stuff.
:( Title: Re: Help with Firefox please Post by: Bongo on October 25, 2006, 05:43:25 PM What extensions do you use mate?
If they're that essential you might have some good ones! |
