Title: I 'm pretty sure I'm beat, should I lay it down? ( by the way I get beat, ) Post by: Newmanseye on October 25, 2006, 12:17:49 AM Now I'm sure this guy flops a set, I just find its a bit too cheap to see his cards considering the cash in the middle, should I have saved my self the money?

True mate, although, do you see anyway of confirming you are beat without committing myself to the pot? I know cant. Title: Re: I 'm pretty sure I'm beat, should I lay it down? There are a lot more hands he would push with here that you have beat then ones that you are losing to. Its a definate call. Title: Re: I 'm pretty sure I'm beat, should I lay it down? ( by the way I get beat, ) Post by: JungleCat03 on October 25, 2006, 09:09:14 AM Unless you want to pay $3.80 for a super lag image you should fold.
I can't see a 9$ stack getting their stack into the 9$ pot without at least trips, maybe a full house or at worst Aces. I'd consider folding a 6 here. Even if you have 66 for quads, hands like 35c , 45c, 34c have lots of out. Nearly all pocket pairs have some outs too. Very risky call $3.80 into an 18$ pot. You need to tighten up mate! Insta-pass. You can consider the fold if he the oppo is first to act and pushes but in this instance i think you have to call. Next time this happens the guy might simply have a worse overpair. Yeh wasn't 100% serious. I think he should probably call with quads, as long as he has position on the guy who's allin. ;whistle; Title: Re: I 'm pretty sure I'm beat, should I lay it down? Title: Re: I 'm pretty sure I'm beat, should I lay it down? ( by the way I get beat, ) Post by: boldie on October 25, 2006, 11:53:48 AM This is the problem with micro stakes poker. Betsizes don't mean anything as they are not respected. everything is "oh it's only a dollar so I'll call" preflop.
you raise 10x the BB pre-flop, which by all account is a respectable raise...It would make me think twice before calling with pocket twos') Then you raise 50 BB's when the flop comes down. it's a potsize of 50BB so a potsize bet but still a very big pot when playing for these stakes. You feel you can't fold for the extra $3.80 because it doesn't mean enough to you as it's only 2£ but you know you're behind. And you probably thought to a 6 so you thought the only out you had was another K. OK he has pocket 2's soa 6 would help you aswell BUT considering that he might have had a six you are a massive dog. In a higher stakes game you probably would have folded. It's a respect for money thing that is missing at these stakes. and that's why I think they are to be avoided at all costs. Use your 42$ and play either a 50$ cash game (4$ raises (8x BB so less than your pre-flop 10x BB raise) tend to be respected there pre-flop) or play small STT's. ( by the way I get beat, ) Post by: Newmanseye on October 25, 2006, 11:57:16 AM I know this seems like a daft question, I just wondered if it was worth passing to save the money, although in retrospect he would push with any PP of 7 and above. I suppose the hand played the only way it could.

In a higher stakes game, a; you wouldn't have thhat many callers...and you wouldn't need to bet 10x the BB pre-flop. of course that also means you wouldn't have to stick that much (compared to BB) in on the flop...then we the guy pushes you could fold. (if indeed, like the man said, you KNOW..you FEEL IT...he has a set. Title: Re: I 'm pretty sure I'm beat, should I lay it down? ( by the way I get beat, ) Post by: snoopy1239 on November 01, 2006, 07:42:26 AM You can't pass, although if you are receiving 4 callers a this level for a bet of 5 times the big blind, then I might advise a bigger pre-flop bet.
