Title: Broadband a go go Post by: mikkyT on October 25, 2006, 07:20:22 PM Weeeeee the joy of going on holiday? Coming back to find a working broadband line! Credit to talk talk, they have had some seriously bad press lately what with their free broadband offer being swamped and scare stories of people waiting 2-3 months for connection.
they told me mid november when I ordered. I could live with that (just) but I didnt see why it couldnt be done faster. Then I read the scare stories. I thought, at least they are being honest. The lights where flashing on my router last week, but alas I had no details. Although it looked like it was the old aol connection that used to be here, as my router told me it was a 1mb line and I had ordered the 8Mb product. I got a letter this morning with the username and password, so I hooked up the router again, this time it reported a 2mb connection. Hmm,,,, wheres my 8mb!? Anyway... Punched in the details but it didnt work :( Had another try this evening, and BOOM, working! Looks like I had left some of the old pipex settings in there from the last time I had used it. Way fking hey. At last something goes right. Title: Re: Broadband a go go Post by: BrumBilly on October 25, 2006, 07:49:27 PM A good news story...yay!
(reminds me of 'The Wonderful Hour' that GREAT Tommy Boyd used to have on the then Talk Radio UK.) Enjoy your 8Mb :) Title: Re: Broadband a go go Post by: mikkyT on October 25, 2006, 08:06:15 PM Its not 8mb :( its still only 2mb, with a crappy upload speed (relatively speaking... Im excited, because Im off dialup. But disappointed, because I cant go as fast as Im paying for... but its still cheaper than dialup)
