Title: Blinds and Antes Post by: mjrevie on October 27, 2006, 12:34:11 PM Need some quick advice. For a one off we are changing our home game from a rebuy to a deep stack freezeout with a plan for it to go on for 5 or so hours. We usually just have blinds all nights but for this i want to introduce blinds and antes. People are very suspicious of any sort of change in case they lose some sort of 'edge' (any attempt to actually make them improve their game is largely ignored). Using the line, well every major tournie and online tournie has blinds and antes wont work with this lot.
I need a couple of reasons of why introducing blinds and antes at a later stage in a tournament is worthwhile. The main arguement for antes is that they encourage a bit more action. There is more in the middle to fight over and the short stacks come under more consistant pressure. They also allow the bigger and medium stacks more play because otherwise a faster clock would be required. 10,000 starting stack Lvl Time Ante SB BB 1 60 min - 25 50 2 60 min - 50 100 3 60 min - 100 200 4 60 min 25 100 200 5 60 min 25 150 300 6 60 min 50 200 400 7 60 min 75 300 600 8 60 min 100 500 1,000 9 60 min 200 800 1,600 10 60 min 300 1,000 2,000 11 60 min 500 1,500 3,000 12 60 min 700 2,000 4,000 13 60 min 1,000 3,000 6,000 14 60 min 2,000 5,000 10,000 15 60 min 2,000 7,000 15,000 16 60 min 3,000 10,000 20,000 17 60 min 3,000 15,000 30,000 18 60 min 5,000 20,000 40,000 |
