Title: watching the Secret Policemans ball Post by: Newmanseye on October 31, 2006, 11:13:27 PM This is great stuff, I just wish the monty python boys could have been in attendance, it seems a bit watered down these days, some of the acts are just leagues apart from others.

I didn't find her in the least bit shocking - or funny. Her act just appeared to be a checklist, go down the list, say something controversial, that's it. It was much too contrived to be funny. Title: Re: watching the Secret Policemans ball Post by: ACE2M on November 01, 2006, 10:14:30 AM in general i enjoyed it, the eddie izzard and the mighty boosh were funny as.
Sarah Silverman was just boring i'm afraid, i love a shocking comedian but her delivery was so pedestrian it was hard to laugh at the punchlines. Title: Re: watching the Secret Policemans ball Post by: Royal Flush on November 01, 2006, 03:49:14 PM Like i say i didn't see what you guys saw.
You can download 1 of her shows on the torrent sites "Jesus is Magic" brilliant. But, first impressions.... means that I can't be bothered to download another of her shows to see if they're any good. I'm happy to take your word for it though. :) Title: Re: watching the Secret Policemans ball Post by: lazaroonie on November 01, 2006, 05:17:18 PM the term "female comedian" is an oxymoron.
They are not genetically programmed to be funny. Title: Re: watching the Secret Policemans ball Post by: BrumBilly on November 01, 2006, 07:26:53 PM I think there's a 'social' explanation.
1. Girls are discouraged from taking on the role of 'class clown' 2. Men get to define what is and isn't 'funny' 3. By the time 'females' get to defining themselves as funny and acting accordingly they're playing catch-up and battling for media exposure at a disadvantage. Title: Re: watching the Secret Policemans ball Post by: thetank on November 03, 2006, 12:21:21 PM Those 3 things coupled with the unfunniness Laz was talking about, and they're really starting on the back foot. :D
Watched this last night, I liked Natalie Imbulgia's *surprise* coming on stage to jam with her mock signer. Well executed and timed too. Title: Re: watching the Secret Policemans ball Post by: Zebediah on November 03, 2006, 12:27:16 PM Switched over just as Jeremy Irons came on...he wasn't funny at all.
