Congratulations must also go to Wales on their impressive 38-20 "demolishion" of the world reknowned Pacific Islanders. A fine performance indeed Title: Re: Rugby Post by: Dewi_cool on November 11, 2006, 05:35:51 PM Are Argentina not world champions now then? :D

Title: Re: Rugby Post by: Rooky9 on November 11, 2006, 07:47:17 PM How long until Rob Andrew does the job himself?
Title: Re: Rugby Post by: TightEnd on November 12, 2006, 02:00:04 AM 1. Andy Robinson is the Glenn Roeder of English rugby. Inherited a side shorn of talent cos of retirements and injuries, hasn't a hope of moulding a cohesive team, and supporters expectations are way too high.
2. English rugby needs to reform, the top players play far too many games....premiership, Heineken cup, Anglo Welsh cup, Autumn Internationals, Six Nations, Summer tours etc. Some 25 internationals are currently long term injured. The physical burdens now players are fitter and bulkier are too great. NFL players play a maximum of 21 games a year. Scottish, Welsh players etc play far fewer games than the English if outside the English league 3. We might as well rip it up, blood kids and build for 2011. Fed up of watching the likes of Corry, Grewcock and Moody....decent premiership rugby players but not quite good enough against the best. Title: Re: Rugby Post by: technolog on November 25, 2006, 05:03:07 PM Just watched them lose a 14-3 lead and finish 14-25 against a poor South African side. Surely now it's got to be time for Robinson to go. Let's get some talented youngsters in and set our sights on 2011.
Title: Re: Rugby Post by: Greg A on November 25, 2006, 06:19:16 PM There is no such thing as a poor South African side, banish the thought
Title: Re: Rugby Post by: Rooky9 on November 26, 2006, 09:44:53 AM I think Robinson will go at 10am this morning ::)
Title: Re: Rugby Post by: Rooky9 on November 29, 2006, 03:37:11 PM Okay I was three days early. Must have been discussing the payoff - even though it appears he resigned.
Who's in? Rob Andrew Dean Richards Or one of the recently retired ex captains? Title: Re: Rugby Post by: kinboshi on November 29, 2006, 04:26:28 PM Okay I was three days early. It'll probably be Rob Andrew, but I'd like to see Martin Johnson in there somewhere. He'd sort them out... fundamental problem is the system overloads the players and deosn't produce enough talent. We need progress on that to really improve things Title: Re: Rugby Post by: kinboshi on November 29, 2006, 04:41:56 PM Probably been discussed before to the death, but what are people's thoughts on Andy Farrell and him eventually being in the England squad?
As a rugby league fan, he's the best player I've ever seen play live, and think he'll be an asset. It's a shame he was injured for such a length of time, and the same goes for Wilkinson - England have missed him dearly. Title: Re: Rugby Post by: TightEnd on November 29, 2006, 04:46:44 PM as an inside centre with his power and kicking ability yes, but he is still a rookie. World cup comes too soon. As you say he was injured and then club and country could not agree on his best position. Yet more bad planning that has affected our team

As you say he was injured and then club and country could not agree on his best position. Yet more bad planning that has affected our team Oh I think the timing is terrible. Can't we get the World Cup moved back another 12 months? I seriously believe the team would be so much stronger with Farrell and Wilkinson properly match fit. If Farrell continues without injury this season, I definitely think he should be in the squad. The fella is immense and he's got to be better than half the current crop (should that be crap?). I think even despite his lack of experience of union, and the fact that he's been out for so long, he still should be included. I might be biased though. They need to decide whether to have a good clear out and start again. I'm not sure whether Wilkinsons body will ever be up to consistant international (even professional) Rugby again. |
