Title: Greatwood Hurdle Post by: ThinkerJE on November 11, 2006, 09:12:32 PM Looking at the trends then Acambo will take all the beating. Need to have an unexposed 5 or 6 year old to win this tough handicap. Should be around 4/1 or 9/2, will be having a decent bet.

Of the others, I like the look of Crow Wood. Was a decent horse on the flat and has some good form to its name over hurdles (beat Desert Quest at Wincanton last time with some other decent yardsticks further behind). Acambo is out so all the value for detroit city (if not for his massive weight and soft ground a certain winner as he is the best horse in the race by a mile) and well chief is gone.....a shame really. I won't have a bet on the racing today...Arsenal and Spurs in a double at more than 3-1 will do me. Title: Re: Greatwood Hurdle Post by: Karabiner on November 12, 2006, 01:23:15 PM I'm curious as to why Jessica Harrington has brought The Last Hurrah over from Ireland.
Curious enough to have a speculative tenner @ 22 ;popcorn; Title: Re: Greatwood Hurdle Post by: Dewi_cool on November 12, 2006, 01:26:18 PM One for Rob in the 1.35 'from Dawn to Dusk' ;D
Title: Re: Greatwood Hurdle Post by: ThinkerJE on November 12, 2006, 07:38:15 PM Great performance by Detriot City, absolutely murdered the rest of the field. This is obviously a serious animal with a touch of class. Having said that it will have to be very good to win the champion hurdle as a 5 year old, as a trends man I simply cannot see it (no 5yr old winner since see you then yeons ago). Also this win may convince connections to stick to 2 miles, whereas I think he will be even better over further. I would love to see him take on Black Jack Ketchum over 2.5/3 miles...

I doubt he'll win the champion but you can't really say that untill the field has been announced...it's a long hard season. Title: Re: Greatwood Hurdle Post by: Karabiner on November 13, 2006, 10:01:39 AM Looks like Detroit City is the new grey Sea Pigeon, and fully entitled to be favourite for the CH after that race.
I was hugely impressed by yesterday's run. I seem to remember another grey Kribensis winning the Triumph and Champion hurdles in successive years. Aha but my memory is fading as I just checked and Kribensis won the CH two years after winning the TH |
