Title: Mouse help
Post by: thetank on November 12, 2006, 08:55:06 PM
I've gotten myself a new mouse, like my last one, it has a scroll wheel.

With the last one, I'd roll the wheel thingy forward and a page would scroll up, I'd roll the wheel thingy backwards, and the page would scroll down. So I could easily navigate up and down a thread on blonde, without using that laborious bar on the side.

With the new one, I have to click the wheely down and a compass appears, then moving the mouse will scroll up and down.

I preferred the old way, and I've been dikking about with the Mouse properties thing that came with, but no joy.

Anyone any ideas. (or funny funny jokes based on the premise that a mouse is also a type of rodent, fnar fnar)

p.s--threaten to feed it to the cat if it doesn't operate correctly. boom boom

I think it's a run of the mill mouse, but it has extra buttons on the side (that I use instead of Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V now) and it is wireless (so its batteries can go out mid-tournament, wha-hey)

do you use hotkeys on it? those buttons on the side should let you do everything at the click of a button, very very handy, although if you are playing push'n'prays you can just use a two button mouse for that, fold or allin.

Oooh I just tried clicking mine down and the same thing happens. To get it back to normal I just clicked again but I'm guessing you've already tried that.

Just shoot it

I don't trust hotkeys.

Scared I might be praying where I shouldn't be staying.

Done and done.  ;kev;

I'd make a Dundee related quip back, but you can only really do that to cities with personality.  ;D

I take it that it's a different type of a mouse and not a replacement?

Tried installing the drivers?

I think I had a similar problem a while back.

I uninastalled and re-installed the drivers earlier on.

The scroll now works, but I can't get the keys at the side working.

Sod the keys at the side, never needed them before, I'm happy enough.

Cheers Bongo :)

I'm not giving up that easily!

What mouse is it?

I find the side buttons on mine useful as back/forward buttons in my browser.

It's a Labtec Wireless Laser Mouse.

Changing the settings in the thingymejiggy (which worked before to set them the way I wanted) doesn't work now.

I'm scared that if I try too hard, the scroll will go again, and that's more important to my than 4th and 5th buttons will ever be, so don't try too hard.  :)

They do work as back/forward buttons in the browser, I just can't change it to control/paste.

I'l just keep it as back/forward and everything will be good. :)

Not a big fan of the action, the feel of it, the shape. If I was to buy a new mouse, can anyone recommend an especially comfy one, offset the whole repetitive strain thang?
