Title: 888.com UK open on Challenge tonight
Post by: nirvana on November 15, 2006, 01:12:12 AM
I've thought it before but Padraig P and Jesse May are just hilarious.

Also, in the final is a chap called Theo Dalton, anyone who has played on Tribeca over the years will have seen him be succesful in tourneys there as Rabid Rat.

First live tourney I ever played at Luton and I happened to sit down right next to him (having never met him before) and when we got talking I discovered he was a.k.a rabid rat.

Interesting first live table that day as Ram Vaswani and Paul Alterman were also at the same table, didn't feel outclassed at all :-)

I've thought it before but Padraig P and Jesse May are just hilarious.

I think its awful, it was alright a couple of years ago but i think its safe to assume that most of the general public are now aware of the basic and even a few of the more advanced specifics of NL texas holdem yet jessie may commentates every hand as though doing so for an audience thats never seen a game of poker in their life.

I understand the need to to build a platform from which padraig parkinson can impart his opinion on the more tricky and intricately played hands, but not every fu**ing one!!!

"why did he do this padraig, why did he do that padraig"? you just know that padraig dying to say:"you know why, the audience knows why so just shut up and let us watch the game"!

It was beyond farcical tonight when jessie may almost rebuked theo for folding A4s against the buttons A10 instead of pushing in facing a raise because hes so used to seeing that play that he just couldn't understand why it wasn't automatic, but theo, even though short, was no where near pot committed.

Such was jessie mays incredulity at the correct deviation from how he had anticipated the hand being played that he failed to mention that it was a good/correct laydown, it seemed as if he was almost indignant that theo wasn't doing: "the norm"

He loves to shout and scream about world class semi bluffs and re raises because thats what the tv guys want the audience to focus on and i imagine hes directed to do so but its got to the point where every hand after the flop begins:"why did he do this padraig" and 99% of the time padraig could simply answer"because sometimes in holdem we vary our play"!

Padraig Parkinsons double at it as well though, never missing an opportunity to represent him self as being a bad player, he does the comedy sidekick routine on the t.v then turns up and slaughters everyone whos listened to him tell the world on t.v commentary how hes so bad, i bet he loves all the action he gets from it!

I just like them giggling like schoolgirls at their own jokes, makes me laugh anyway. Not too bothered about the fill in material about who did what, when and why - after all, as bolt says, I can see that for myself.

Same reason why I prefer fanzone when watching footie on Sky rather than too clever/dull by far commentators.

Theo was one of the first people I seeked out to give me advice when I started playing up at Luton. Having played in a live game with him three and a half years ago it was obvious to my untrained eye even then that he was a class player. He could have said no but actually spent quite a bit of time with me.........needless to say he is a great guy as well and we always share a laugh when we bump into each other. He calls me his protege.............I call him Theo

I'm the same, can't stop giggling myself once they get started.

My knowledge of their capacity for dance is limited I'm afraid.(as is my understanding of abbreviated text/broken English iceman) ::)

Wouldn't that be pleasent though? dancing happy slappers!

do a little jig for you before slapping you round the head and nicking your phone.
