Title: Fearing for Gary Neville Post by: Rooky9 on November 15, 2006, 07:27:44 PM 26 minutes in and I have seen enough to see the lad can play at this level.
Neville has done a great job for England over the last decade but I honestly feel that having a player like Richards at right back will improve the team greatly in the attacking sense without harming the defence at all.... Title: Re: Fearing for Gary Neville Post by: TightEnd on November 15, 2006, 07:29:12 PM why on earth do you fear for him?
about time I say! Title: Re: Fearing for Gary Neville Post by: Rooky9 on November 15, 2006, 07:47:27 PM The ball in from Joe Cole was made by the fact he fell over!

Title: Re: Fearing for Gary Neville Post by: Acidmouse on November 16, 2006, 12:26:26 PM I dont like Neville but he is the last of my worries regarding how England are playing.
Title: Re: Fearing for Gary Neville Post by: ACE2M on November 19, 2006, 10:36:50 AM I completely disagree, gary neville is an excellent defender and provides some quality attacking play. Phil neville on the other hand is a prize donkey and if i see him chip the ball hopefully at the box just one more time in an england shirt i will cry.
Name me one bad game or obvious balls up gary neville has made while playing for england? Micah Richards is a great prospect. I also agree as in my orginal post... but that is not what we have the propect (and current realisation of) here. We can have a right sided Ashley Cole, which is definatly not what Neville provides. With pace and stamina they will be able to provide width for 90minutes with no defencive side effects. I can't see the downside of changing over now rather than keeping Nelville in to be at whatever age for the next two tourns when by that point we could have a 21 year old right back at his second major competition and with X caps under his belt. Absolute no brainer IMHO! I prefer the school of thought that sees the 18 yr old learn how to defend properly off the guy who has won everything, by being his understudy for a while at international level. |
