Title: Hello
Post by: babymonkeyboy on November 16, 2006, 11:00:46 PM
 :hello:

Just though i'd drop by and introduce myself as the youngest member of the forum. I was born at 11.41 this morning and i'm the main reason why my dad has not lumped all his bankroll back onto pokerstars and is currently trying to rebuild his bankroll from scratch without depositing.

Another reason why he may not be spending much time on the forum, he's foraging for twice as many bananas now ;D

Hope to meet you all at the tables soon :D

Hello babymonkeyboy!

Lessons in life No 1: 93o is generally a bad hand to play, but in the hands of a monkey it is all-powerful!

Many congrats to the parents!

Sheriff

My name is William John (unfortunately my mum got to choose and therefore i don't have a traditional monkey name)

I was 7lb 9oz

I arrived three weeks early by CS so even though my mum will be in hospital for the next few days she is doing fine.

My dad tells me that its 93 suited which is all-powerful, 93o/s is just garbage!! :D

Thank you all for your kind words and greetings, i know it was kept quiet but to be honest it wasn't planned. There isn't a "mrs monkey", his mum and i have been good friends for many years but never in a relationship type way. I've known for about 7 months but to be honest for the first 5 or so i kind of buried my head in the sand and thought "if i pretend i dont know about it then maybe it wont happen".

I realized a few months ago that unfortunately i cannot change the past and the sooner i learned that i would have to accept responsibilty the better which is why once i returned from Vegas i didnt plough all my money back into online poker - i'd have to rebuild my bankroll the hard way by grafting at the lower levels. Its proving harder than expected but we're getting there :)

To be honest i wasnt sure how i'd feel yesterday but after it emerged both mum and baby we're both fit and well i couldnt feel any other way but happy, all i had to do was figure out how i now tell everyone as i'd only told two people where i work (in case i needed any time off) and one close friend. It was a bit tricky trying to tell a friend i'd known since i was about 6 and see on a regular basis that i'd become a dad some 8 hours earlier!!

Whilst i'm not going to be there for him 24 hours a day 7 days a week i'll be doing my best to provide him with as good a future as possible, as baby says another reason why i may not be around as much on the forum in the coming weeks and months - i have to learn that i need to share my bananas from now on!! MUST GRUMBLE :D

You mean you hadn't told your parents...ouch, they may be upset to be uninvolved till now.
But I'm sure it will all be forgotten when they meet the little fella.
If it is their first grandkid they will be too besotted to think straight anyway.

My 4th (second boy) is now 4 months old and me and his 2 godfathers (I choose quality guys) are planning to take him to Prague when he hits 18...you can bring your boy too...and they will return home men lol.

Congrats though

p.s. If you aren't feeling immediately overwhelmed with him, don't worry.
I felt a little "disappointed" after all 4 of my children arrived, but over the coming days and weeks fell head over heels for all of them.

Unfortunatly my parents divorced over 20 years ago and i've only seen my dad once in that time, my mum died just over 5 years ago but that was the only down side about yesterday for me - that she wasn't there to see him. The only family i have is my mums cousin who lives in devizes, we do keep in touch very very occasionally - so i may just about get away with an excuse on that score.

Perhaps this is a chance for you to create your own family then (said after removing my foot from my mouth).
Coming from a large close family I can just assume everyone else is the same. though having a big family has its downsides too, you can't choose them after all.

Well today was supposed to be the day that he was let out of hospital, the doctors have given the all clear however todays midwife has decided that he is to stay in until he is feeding properly. They aren't satisfied that he's getting enough food as he's not feeding on a regular basis, mum is slightly infuriated as its down to the different midwives offering conflicting advice as to which way is best as to why he hasnt settled with a regular feeding pattern.

Oh yeah and something to do with him wanting to sleep all the time and only wake up once every 8 hours for food.... Not sure where he gets that from though!!  :dontask:

Sods law - i settle down to play in the $10 rebuy on pokerstars i build up a nice stack to sit with over $21000 and be in top 20 with just under 200 runners left when i get a phone call.

They've changed their mind, they can both come home and will i come and pick them up.

D'OH!!!

Title: Re: Hello
Post by: matt674 on November 19, 2006, 08:52:12 PM
All home safe and sound, took a few calculated gambles with the rebuy then just before i left to go to the hospital i decided to "go broke or bust" and reraised all in on the button with A3 o/s, got called by AK and promptly flopped a 3. Of course my opponent wasnt too happy as i then proceeded to sit out having hit 35k and lie in 5th position while i went to pick up the little 'un. Thankfully BigArmo was free to take the reins and guide me to a 17th place finish for a nice profit :)up (though if what sark says is true - HOW DID YOU BLOW IT? lol)

Mother and baby are well, didnt help taking a detour to pick up her daughter at her sisters house only to find she'd got most of the family round - i was hoping that as they decided at first that she was to stay in that they may not have anything planned. William slept through the lot, some of us weren't as lucky. Still we've got all the fuss out of the way so hopefully he can settle down now in his new home.

Thank you all again for the good luck wishes :)

15 weeks and i'm slowly figuring out what my legs are for!!

ok so i still have to use my harness to swing but it wont be long before i'm swinging in the trees unaided!!

I still cant sit up unaided for long but i've got my cushion for support for now

I've figured out what my hands are for and can grab a hold of things - a pencil for now but will soon be a branch!

Having seen Tikay's performance on television recently i decided i needed to get with the fashion to become a popular monkey and so i got myself a "cheeky monkey" hoodie, a cheeky monkey cap and tried to emulate my hero :)up

What do you think?

Sorry its been a while but i've been learning to do things :) I can sit up now without falling over, i can turn over and propel myself backwards but still haven't got the hang of going forwards yet and I can zoom around in my walker and bump into everything :) I'm a bit poorly at the minute because my teeth have decided they want to make an appearance, hopefully they wont take too long to come thru and i can start putting them to good use!!

Anyways for now here's some more up to date pics......

A couple of me causing havoc with my "wheels"

A couple of me getting comfy on my dad

and if i ever get hungry i can always pick my dinner from my dad!! :D

See you all at the tables soon :)up

:hello:

Just thought i'd drop by to say hello to all the nice people who asked about me to my dad over the weekend, sorry i couldn't swing down with him - they reckon i'm not old enough to be allowed in the casino. Wouldn't mind but i'm all grown up now!! :D Couple of more upto date pics from last month including one of me at my christening. No doubt i'll have a few more from my first birthday party next month :)

OMG nearly one, that was a quick year.

He is so cute,is he walking yet?

Not yet, he has learned to stand up but not unaided - so now he can pull himself onto his feet when stood next to the sofa or using the table where the tv is to get a better view (or more importantly next to the toy box to empty the contents all over the floor!)

When crawling around he will sometimes try and push himself up onto his feet but he doesn't quite have the strength and co-ordination to then take his hands off the floor to stand up.

Probably wont be long though :)

It might actually be quicker than i thought - last night we were playing the tower game with different shape wooden building blocks. You know the one, daddy builds a tower out of the blocks and babymonkey knocks it down as quickly as possible (my uncle Kong would have been proud!). Anyway he gets bored with the tower game and starts using me as a climbing frame to pull himself up but instead of climbing onto me he would let go and see how long he could stand unaided before falling onto his backside. This carried on for a good ten minutes even though he didnt seem to last more than 5-10 seconds each time before falling back down.

I know that the next stage will be walking but part of me doesnt want that stage to come as i know there will be much destrcution following it!! :D

He did like the present and tried to phone you to say thank you, there must have been something wrong with the connection when Claire answered as he couldn't get through.

Anyway, here's some pic's of his big day. He has a cold (boy flu not quite as bad as man flu, but getting there) so didn't want to smile for photos.
