Title: Spam Attack Post by: Rod Paradise on November 17, 2006, 11:04:52 AM Peeps, you may have noticed that blonde has been hit with a rush of spam, for various items and *ahem* services.
While some of the replies have been funny (honourable? mention to Smithy69), we naturally want to get the posts off of blonde as soon as possible. If you see spam appear please PM any mods/Admin online and alert them to it. Thanks to all that already have assisted with this. The Admin team are looking at ways to keep the spam off blonde, if any techy experts have suggestions/ideas, please feel free to PM them to any of the Admin/Mods. Title: Re: Spam Attack Post by: TightEnd on November 17, 2006, 11:11:42 AM p.s I got in touch with the Russian girl. Seems very nice. Managed to buy a truck load of viagra too to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
Anyone know the Rouble/Sterling exchange rate? Title: Re: Spam Attack Post by: tantrum on November 17, 2006, 12:19:41 PM russian ruble - 1 - £-0.02

From what I understand "mature" and if possible a heart condition combined with life assurance are precisely the things that 20yr old Russian women are looking for in a spouse...... Title: Re: Spam Attack Post by: lazaroonie on November 17, 2006, 11:11:31 PM one way round it would be to prevent new users from posting new threads for a couple of days (they can still contribute to existing threads). that would discourage most of them.

Title: Re: Spam Attack Post by: Bongo on November 18, 2006, 03:28:59 AM They're easily bypassed, phpBB has them by default and it stops 0 bots.
I've installed some mods for my forum and they work quite well. I'm sure there are mods out there for SMF too, I'll have a google and see if i can find anything that looks worthwhile. I'm not sure I agree with not letting people post for a few days for a couple of days is a good solution for 2 reasons: 1) I don't like reducing functionality to stop abuse. 2) They can just come back after a few days to spam. but as we dont the best way to keep it to a minium is to hit the report to moderator button dont reply to the spam as it will just bring it to the top of the board mods will deal with it as soon as we can if its via a PM then hit the report to admin button Title: Re: Spam Attack Post by: babymonkeyboy on November 18, 2006, 10:03:26 PM They're easily bypassed, phpBB has them by default and it stops 0 bots.
