Title: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: Newmanseye on November 18, 2006, 03:26:25 AM Is this possibly the best work by both Christopher walken and Robert DeNiro?
The performances are great and I have to wonder did both these great actors peak in this movie? Open for discussion... Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: bolt pp on November 18, 2006, 03:34:38 AM I dont think they peaked but both gave awsome performances.
I think DeNiro at least had done better work before this film. Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Possibly Taxi Driver ;goodvevil; was that before The Deer hunter? I think it was Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: bolt pp on November 18, 2006, 03:50:52 AM Yeah, 2 or 3 years before i think.
Such is DeNiro's talent though, i think that you could argue for any one of about 10 films as being his greatest ever performance! Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: Britney Spears on November 18, 2006, 03:53:31 AM It's no Crossroads but it's allright.

Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: JungleCat03 on November 18, 2006, 04:41:36 AM Yes it's a great film that's very rewatchable with lots of memorable scenes.
Walken and De niro are both class. The film is filled with touching moments and the famous scene in saigon from the end of the film will have even the hardiest viewer struggling to hold back a tear or two. Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: Scottish Dave on November 18, 2006, 05:07:38 AM this is defo one of the greatest films, boosted by the fact it stars both CW and RdN, giving outstanding performances!
the Russian roulette scene, must be one of the most amazing scenes of all time, it must have taken both of them hours to come down from that scene....so fekking intense! Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: thetank on November 18, 2006, 06:17:32 AM Have you seen the out-takes from that Russian roulette scene?
Walken couldn't stop giggling Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: The Dundonian on November 18, 2006, 06:56:21 AM They made the sequal in Aberdeen it was called "The Sheep Sh@gger"
Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: thetank on November 18, 2006, 07:06:17 AM Editor came from Dundee, that's why we never saw the finished film.
He swapped the footage for a few splifs and a pair of nike plimsolls. Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: thetank on November 18, 2006, 07:16:46 AM I shag sheep, my father shags sheep, his father before him shagged sheep. All my brothers and friends shag sheep. I'm not quite sure what my mother and sisters do, but they certainly spend a good bit of alone time in the top field with wooly mammals.
We're all very proud. I think the only Aberdonian who doesn't shag sheep is Willie Miller, who's too busy polishing his Cup Winner's Cup We're the granite city. Granite is a rock, therefore Aberdeen rocks. My point is this, you got nuthin outside of progressively loose beastility references. 8) Time to diversify, raise your game so it forces me to raise mine. I'm gagging for it, I got some big guns in here that are going wanting. Nike Plimsolls... that's pisch. I can do better, but you gotta make me. Let's show the rest of the world that Nord Ost Schottland can battle rap with the best of them. Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: bolt pp on November 18, 2006, 10:49:49 AM Yeah, funny
Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: JungleCat03 on November 18, 2006, 11:35:33 AM Walken's so good in lots of stuff.
His scene with dennis hopper in true romance is v good too. In the russian roulette scene apparently de niro insisted they have a live round in the gun during the filming of the scene. Obviously they knew where the round was during the filming but they're some crazy lengths to get into character! Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: Sark79 on November 18, 2006, 04:31:47 PM Walken is my favorite actor ever, the guy is great. Great bad guy in Batman and Bond. I watched Deadzone the other night, he makes that film as well. Deer Hunter is a great movie, I use to have the DVD, but a Ned lifted it during a party one night
Title: Re: The Deer Hunter yes it was on and I watched it! Post by: boldie on November 18, 2006, 04:53:03 PM I never liked it much....not enough Deer in it for me...
