Title: Threads that left a long lasting impression.
Post by: thetank on November 24, 2006, 09:32:15 AM
Inspired by the book thread, post a link to a thread you've enjoyed during the life of blonde.

Let's face it though, a book is something that you bet on. Internet forum threads are the future of literature.

One that you loved at the time, think back, use the search feature to find where it is, and provide a link.
So we can all nostalge (it's a verb today so it is) alongside you, or if we've missed it, catch it for the first time.

I always like a good forum cliche and/or in joke starting off....

The birth of "jocks as elephant polo champs"

O/T Proud to be British (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=4698.0)

Ever really wanted to slag off the Scottish but were unsure how to proceed, given up, and congratulated us on our achievements in the field of elephant polo instead. This is where it started.

The birth of "move the shortstack!"

poll - balancing tables (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=8016.15)

Disgruntled with the method of table balancing at his local casino, the famous AdamM started three or four threads one day to do something about it. This is one of them, im which a few users may display a certain lack of sympathy for his agenda ::)

Yes, for some.... but not for others

Hilarious due to the fact that on page 4 Adam M was still fighting for his cause, yet to cotten on to the leg pulling even though people had made comments such as "Move all the shortstacks to the car park, where they have to play whilst dodging traffic.", "We could move all short stacks to their own table, and let them play amongst themselves until they have a big enough stack to be allowed back in." and "They've got less chips to carry and are less likely to put up a fight."

ABE, was a great thread, about 15 pages long and nearly every post a lenghty, well thought out one, I wont post the link because i know it was a bit controversial towards the end but ive never seen a thread like that where so much time and effort was taken from each poster to contribute.

(Execept APAT of course)!!!! ::)

Just search for "ABE" and it's at the top.

For the love of christ don't bump it though  ;scarymoment;

Just search for "ABE" and it's at the top.

I get 'Aberdeen - Ironside's city'.  It's not a bad thread, but I don't think it's the one I should be looking at!

Sorry 'bout that.

You could try searching for "I think this thread is both unnecessary and meaningless" then. :)

I get it now.  very good!

EDIT - oops - I thought I did.  double blonde moment. It's too early. Having looked at every thread around about 15 pages long on general discussion I thought this was a clever attempt by bolt and tank to link back to this.  I have now found said thread it sports discussion, hence why I don't remember it!

Another thread has just sprung to mind, its from a while back but its indelible mark on the forum serves to remind us all of how the online world is increasing in its capacity to engage and personalise the otherwise robotic nature of online communication.

It really did encapsulate the benefit of the concise post tempered with understated Witt and reverence.

It does get a bit involved and its a borderline one but i just felt that such was its impact on the forum it deserved a mention.

I know people have very strong feelings about this one so i hope we can all keep it civilised.

As intricate as this thread was i think the generic texture was universal, something that resonated with a lot of blondietes.

I really cant over state the magnitude of this thread and i'm sure that many of you will agree it would not be improper of me to propose this one as a best of blonde nominee

I know we all enjoyed this one and, so sit back, relax, and enjoy.................................

Just read the whole Rob Yong blog in one go, quite excellent.

If I'm lucky enough to go to Vegas for the next (or the next year etc etc) WSOP, I really feel that his blog has given advanced preparation of what to expect as a non-pro.

I have been to vegas, but not in anything like the WSOP madness.
