1 of my original 3 are still in, that being Jeff Kimber.

I will add in Joe Grech and Nick Slade as my 3 picks for the final day.

I really hope TK and RED-DOG do well but don't wanna bock them by picking them.

Well, I've arrived, at the big hand is on three, but no sign of a start yet.

Most of the Day 2 survivors are here, all fresh faced and raring to go.

Sat around a table are Des Jonas, Ian Woodley, Martyn Cavangah and Ryan Fronda, all complaining about their lack of handage at the close of yesterday.

Would you believe it?? They've made Day 2 and they're still moaning.

tikay had a party to celebrate...

And here are four of those survivors, the team lacking a few of their members, but still not a bad showing.

From left to right: Lucy Rokach, Mark Blandford, Dan Ainsworth and some tag alonger.

And right from the off we've had some real drama with an Aces versus Kings clash.

Huckle held the Cowboys whilst Ash Pervais, my pick for third, had the American Airlines.

140k pot.

Board = T-7-K-4-3

"I give up," sighs Ash Pervais as he exits the cardroom, leaving a rather meek, but overjoyed on the inside, John 'Hamsterboy' Huckle.

Ash Pervais was covered, so he is therefore OUT.

Toni Decesari has doubled up to 33k with Fives versus Ace King. As a result, Essy Jahanpour is down to the felt.

Toni Dicesari is OUT.

The Midlander raised it up pre-flop, and was called by Dan Carter, who then also called the 25k all-in on a Flop of 5c 6s 9s.

"I hope you don't have a set," commented Carter.

'Sideshow Bob' had nothing to fear though as Toni revealed Pocket Queens, drawing to two cards against Carter's set of Fives.

The Ts Turn gave him some hope, but it wasn't to be as the 4h River allowed Carter to scoop the 30k pot.

And they're dropping likes flies that have been crossbred with lemmings as we lose Essy Jahenpour at the hands of Nick Slade.

Shortstacked, Essy moved all-in with A-K, only to be called by Slades J-T of hearts.

Slade cursed the 3s 8c Ahrt

But changed his tone as the Turn and River brought the 5h and 4h.

Tough one for Essy who is now OUT.

Double up for John Zaid who moves all-in with Tens only to be called by Lucy Rokach and her Snowmen in the small blind.

7-7-K-5-9 board.

Startled at not being lowest chips, tikay was even more startled when he noticed that someone was supposedly returning with zero chips.

"He'll still beat you," added a certain Beagle.

That certain Beagle then sharply ran out of the building and hid.

Dan Carter adds to his stack as he bluffs Mark Blandford off a pot.

Board = Kc 3s Qs Ac

Dan checks, Mark bets 7k and Dan makes it 18k.

Mark folds leaving Dan to confidently reveal his huuuuuuuuuuge 8h 7h.

Buddy Ayegun moves in his shorstack with Pocket Nines and Richard Jenking called in a ... heartbeat (ahem) with A-t.

Rollercoaster Board = 8-6-T-A-7

"What a shame, I've hit the straight, I'm sorry," added Buddy rather sarcastically.

"Buddy loves chips" and he is now up to 15.5k.

"Don't worry, I'll still make the final."

Nick Slade is OUT.

Mark Blandford raised with Kings, Nick called.

Blandford moved in on a Qd 9d 3d Flop and, after a lengthy dwell, Nick called, hoping that his Ten of Diamond would be a back up. Unfortunately, Mark also held the King of diamonds.

Turn and River were no help.

Steve Jelinek moves all-in for 25k on a 5c 4c 2h Flop.

The recipient of the ambush, Don 'The Thinker' Jones thinks... and then asks, "Do You want me to call?" to which Jelinek replies, "Not if you have the flush draw, I don't want you to hit."

Don folded and Steve was indeed telling the truth as he turned over Pocket Ladies.

interesting marketing strategy by sporting odds. While most sites are going for the young guns and targeting the 18-35 year olds sporting odds seem to be targeting the profitable 60+ market by choosing the saga pin ups tony and lucy ;)

What time will the final start and what time will the whole shebang end?

I'll start things off

Final: 10.42 pm

End: 3.23 am

Lets hope I'm wrong.

Well, Ian needs some oxygen himself as he's just moved all-in from the button without realising that Joe Grech has minimum raised to 4k from under the gun.

The all-in was a chunky 29.5k, and after counting out his chips, Joe eventually folded an Ace adding, "I shall let go of my overcards."

Ian revealed Pocket Tens and said, "I thought I make a it big so this fish (pointing to Martyn Cavanagh) didn't call and hit a flop."

It seems Red Dog is now liveried up in SportingOdds gear. Were they expecting TV to be here?

ACTION

Wilkinson moves all-in from early position for just 15.5k.

Woodley moves all-in for 36.5k.

Cavanagh moves all-in for... lots.

Everybody else passed, including Ryan Fronda who had 7-7 on the Big Blind.

Wilkinson = Kd Td

Woodley = Th Ts

Cavanagh = Aspades Kc

Board = 4s Ks Tc 5d Qh

"Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!" exclaims Woodley as he bangs the table.

There's a lot of banter on Tikay's table.

TK shows off his new shades, says they cost £600.

Ian Woodley says "I thought you got them for free at your age."

Its all fairly predictable stuff.

Nice bit of speech play from Joe during that hand against Ian.

Having reraised all in, and while Ian is thinking Joe says

"You're going to pass, throw them away!"

Sami is very impressed.

"Thats not good poker, thats great poker" he says.

John Huckle raises from under the gun pre-flop and finds 3 callers in Don Jones, Lucy Rokach and Jeff Kimber who all combine to create a 30-35k pot.

Everyone checks the 9c-Kd-9s before Don takes it down with a 10k bet on the 4h Turn.

"I'm trying to irritate him into a call," claims tikay as he pushes all in from the button.

tikay then removes his sites and quickly puts them back on realising that this is when he needs to wear his poker face.

"That won't make a bit of difference, believe me," responds John Vaccarella.

Incredibly, tikay manages to get John to fold his A-Q.

"I had Queens", announces tikay.

Another misread from the ol fella as he reveals Pocket Eights.

I guess they're close too Queens, two fat ladies.

Ian Woodley moves in utg+1.

John Vaccarella dwells up momentarily from the big blind.

"Come on, you're the executioner," comments Woodley.

"I need to get lucky though if I call with this," replies John.

He then shows one Ace and folds. "It was suited too," he adds.

After somewhat of a hectic start, the state of play has slowed down a little.

The last big hand I saw didn't really create a big pot.

The board showed 6c Jd 6h Kh Kd and Dan Carter had bet 13k on the River.

Joe Grech was the recipient and has his younger opponent, "Do you want me to call."

"I'll let you decide," replied a laid back Carter.

Grech folded and Carter showed Ks Js.

I think Joe made the correct pass, call it a hunch.

And as soon as RED-DOG exits, tikay follows him to the rail.

Down to 12k, he moved in to Martyn Cavanagh's (7-7) raise with T-9s, hoping that he'd be heads up with protection rather than facing the two blinds.

But alas it was a three way pot anyhow as Dan Carter called in the big blind with Sixes.

Martyn 'Teacher's Pet' Cavanagh's Sevens held up.

One of these fine chaps is a multi (and I mean a huge multi) millionaire.

Just from looking and there faces (and please don't say if you know the actual answer), can you work out which is Mr wealthy?

Contestant (A), (B), (C) or (D)

Just caught up with Dan Ainsworth, he suffered the same fate as RED-DOG with A-K being his downfall, but instead of being virtually dead to Aces, he was blessed with a coinflip against Jacks, but alas it was not good enough.

"Ace King just hasn't been holding up," said RED.

I think it's Ace Queen though that everyone should fear. As Malcolm 'The Rock' Harewood said, "The Ace Queen has taken a hammering all day."

if you take time to do some analysis of exit hands in big comps you wont be surpirsed to find that the most common exit hand is AQ and the second most common is AK. People seem very happy to go broke with ace high in these events which I find surprising (although having not gotten to latter stages of a major tourney in a couple of years I have never been able to make sure I dont do the same lol).

there is an easy explaination into that

people find it easy getting all in with AK and many will also make stands with 8s thru to queens against all of these AK is only 50/50 therefore your going to be 6 or 7 times more likely to go out holding AK than queens or tens or 8s if you understand what i am saying

Grech checks, Carter bets 25k (with an innocent look on his face) and Grech folds.

Battle of the blinds with Joe Grech (David in the small).

All-in pre-flop with Wernick's K-T of spades in bad shapes against Joe's Pocket Queens.

"I thought he was nicking," conceded David.

First card Kc

but the River dealt a cruel blow to Worm junior.

Ks 3s Js 4h Qh

although Joe did also have the Queen of Spades.

And following David Wenick is Mark Blandford, who exits in nasty circumstances.

A coinflip with Ian Woodley with 7-7 v A-K all-in pre-flop, the board dealt a nasty river as it came 8-T-T-5-8

Woodley screamed for the eight, and it arrived!

He releases his usual shout of delight and even kisses the dealer.

"Another one of those and you get the tongue"

I don't think he'll be winning too many hands now.

in the later stages of a comp the value of AK increases its much better to call or a raise a person ALL IN with AK than 88 even though 88 is a slight favourite via AK

because 88 is only a big favourite via bluffs and is a big dog via any pair bigger than 8s and coin flipping with any other hand than the person could be playing

wheras AK is only a huge dog via AA 2-1 against KK coin flipping v any pair and a favourite via any other hand

without knowing my oppos hand i would much rather put it in with AK than any pair lower than queens, jacks is 50/50 if i would risk my poistion in the comp with them or not (assmuming we are still on a fullsih table)

He was Rokached.

First he lost out with a Jack high flush to a King high flush on a board with 4 clubs, one of which was the Ace.

He then made his move with K-2 from the button, but Lucy Rokach found K-J in the small blind, which stood up an 8-8-5-A-4 board.

As Des Jonas noticed, "You just can't beat Lucy today."

Joe raised from the button to 18k, J Zaid made it 48k from the small blind and Joe called.

Flop = 4s 8d 2s

Zaid moved all-in for 63k and Joe went into the think tank.

The clock was put on him and he eventually folded A-K face up.

Zaid cheekily revealed his A-Q.

Close shave for shortstacker Lisa Scotney.

With the other table swarming around Table 3 like flies around the mucky stuff, Lisa moved all-in from the small blind with Ad 5s, only for John Huckle to call from the big with the same hand, but both clubs.

The flop was a rather scary one.

Kc Jc Th

The Turn was a safe 5d and although it was black, the River was the harmless 9s and Lisa lives to fight another day (well, play another hand). She is still very short and is tring desperately to creep onto the final table. With Lucy on your table though, you never know.

Have you ever received a firm kick in the testicles?

Do you recall that grimace you gave when the pain suddenly hit?

Well, that's the face Joe Grech is now wearing.

He raised pre-flop, Ian Woodley re-raised from the button and Joe re-repopped him.

Ian had to call and was rather embarrassed to reveal Kh 9h, especially when Joe turned over Ahrt Ks.

And Ian was even more red-faced when he flopped a nine on a Qs 9d 2c 6d 5c board.

Joe down to 54k and not looking happy.

38k pot pre-flop

Jc 3d 2h

J Zaid moves all-in, Carter folds.

They haven't tightened up this lot with 10 remaining, although Lisa Scotney is still clinging like she's never clung before.

Slow going still, especially after the Grech double up.

Lisa Scotney is the lowest stack with just 34k and blinds of 4,000 and 8,000.

A-J vs Huckle's 2-2

x-x-A-x-J

Martyn Cavanagh is OUT and therefore becomes our bubble boy.

All-in with K-T suited, he ran into Lisa Scotney's Pocket Aces, and she had him just about covered.

The King on the flop wasnt quite enough.

I have 5 people I woudn't mind seeing win this.

The favourite has gotta be "JaffaCake" Jeff Kimber.

Dan Carter has a good game also I like his chances.

Joe Grech making 2 finals in a week quality!

Ian "goldenballs" Woodley (walks like the hunchback of Notre Dam) he does hit some cards :)

Rob Garfield who's game if you compared to last year you wouldn't think it was the same player very much improved and will be very dangerous.

One of these 5 will win my money is on Jaffa though to get them chips off Lucy Rokach with some flair :)

A nice little touch here at Walsall, Dani introudced all the players individually, who in turn received a well deserved round of applause from the audience.

However, he did also say, "No smoking and no nobile phones."

So everyone, make sure those nobiles are swtiched off.

Lucy announces, "Good fold" and taps the table.

The most dramatic moment arrived when the players spotted the buffet.

The buffet has actually caused the biggest debate at the table. Should they eat it now or wait for the break?

Action at last, and it's not good for Carter fans as he just gave me the thumbs down sign accompanied by a raspberry.

Carter and Garfield got it all-in pre-flop, Big Slick versus Ace Queen.

A big gasp from the crowd (yep, both of them) when the dreaded Queen hit the River.

Garfield doubles up.

A very relaxed atmosphere at the final table, mainly exuding from Joe Grech who has brought the topic of conversation onto TV detectives. Apparantly he's a big fan of Columbo and the way he works everything out, very enthusiastic apparantly.

"It's not real," whispers Woodley.

What I don't get is if he's so good, then why does he drive that crappy car and dress like a hobo??

Action wise, still not too much action.

Hes sponsored by Matt Dale I believe. poker.co.uk
Yes, this is true.

Well done Dan. Excellent result again - very unlucky with the AK vs AQ :(

Dan played in 4 of the tourneys this festival (£200, £300, £500 and £1000) and final tabled in two of them. Fantastic work :) Unlucky not to win I think.

Here's to the next festival :)

Good luck to those still playing (except Woodley ;)). Shame I had to dash off early.

Action wise, still not too much action.

maybe because columbo isnt as smart as ironside

Ian Woodley is OUT in 6th place winning £5,750

Lucy raised to 35k, Woodley made it 110,000.

Lucy dwells for a while, ask for a count (Woodley has 75k) left before making a good call with 8-8.

Woodley sighs as he turns over his Sixes.

Board = Ad Jd Ts 4h Td

"Nice call," approves Ian.

Garfield and Scotley see a cheap Kd Tc Js Flop in the blinds.

Garfield checks, Scotley bets 25k and Garfield calls.

Turn = 5d

Garfield checks, Scotley bets 50k and Garfield calls.

River = Jh

Garfield checks, Scoltey announces all-in and Garfield folds.

Garfield down to 200k.

Lucy called the 12k on the button, Zaib made up the small blind and Rob checked.

Flop = 7s 9h Kh

Rob = Ad Aspades

Zaib = Tc 8d

Turn = 9c

Lisa is down to 225k after losing a pot to Zaib.

The board read 7h 7c 5d Ts 2d and Zaib made a confident 100k bet from the button.

Lisa, who was in the big blind, folded, but is now the shortest stack.

Whether that makes her favourite to go next though I'm still unsure.

With 100k in the pot and a Qs-9s-Th Flop, Rob Garfield, who has the button, moves in on Lucy Rokach for 224k. Lucy dips into the think tank momentarily before folding.

Lisa Scotney -- 300,000
Lucy Rokach -- 770,000
G Zaib -- 170,000
Rob Garfield -- 440,000

More talks of a deal, but they need to woo Lucy.

There's been a little bit of moving and shaking, but no massive pots.

The current chip counts are:

Lisa Scotley -- 282,000
Lucy Rokach -- 735,000
G Zaib -- 210,000
Rob Garfield -- 545,000

Lucy is started to come around, perhaps because she's had enough, but she wants to know the exact chip counts first.

One suggestion that came from Scotley was they all take 4th prize and split the rest proportionally to chips.

I think she even offered Lucy an extra 5k at one point.

I never ever agree to this sort of saver. It's nothing to do with karma, it totally changes the game and makes the short stacks extremely willing to gamble.

So, big stack or short stack, I will always decline this deal.

Those women drive a hard bargain, but after the usual "Oh, let's just play then, forget about it", "Who's going to pay the dealers?" and "I'm not going below 20k", they've finally come to an agreement.

So here is what they're taking home:

Lucy Rokach -- £37,000
Rob Garfield -- £28,300
Lisa Scotney -- £20,000
Gehan Zaid -- £17,205

Easy answer to that Mr Side.

Don't hex me by picking me ever again! :redcard:

If you hadn't picked me the flop for my AK v JJ exit hand would have been AAK not the lousy 89T we saw...

Rob also informs me that when they were down to 10 and Scotney was the short stack, he suggested 10th got 2k instead of 1. Everyone agreed, except Lucy, but as Rob said, that's her perogative. Rob's a big believer in good karma though.

I never ever agree to this sort of saver. It's nothing to do with karma, it totally changes the game and makes the short stacks extremely willing to gamble.

So, big stack or short stack, I will always decline this deal.

I wouldn't give it away either, why should she?

Gehan Zahid is OUT and becomes our 4th place finisher 'officially' winning £10,855

Of course, they have to play it out, so it's the ol, "Just stick it in" jobby.

And it's Zahid who's first up for the stocks with Ks Qd versus Garfield's 4c 8c

Board = Js 4d Kc Tc 8s

well done all, but especially to Rob Garfield. Sensational effort to stand toe to toe with Lucy, formidable with a big stack, for so long.

Looks like Rob's used up all his luck in the last three hands with three outdraws. Doubt he's too bothered though.  ;D

Well Done to Rob, he has really become a dangerous player. Was thinking about this earlier he seems very good at determining the strength of an opponent.

Knows who he can and can't push around which is a great weapon to have in the armoury.

Well, that's another festival done and dusted, and what a cracker it was too, attracting what may well be record numbers for Grosvenor Walsall. Every comp seemed to be packed to the rafters, and rightly so too as I always have a good time down here. But Walsall haven't been without criticism: prize structure, disruptive players, missing levels and so on, but what should be emphasised is that Zak, Dani and the boys have worked excellently as a team and have always been firm supporters of blonde. Like all of us, they make mistakes, but sometimes decisions are made that are beyond there control, so whilst we highlight the negatives of this week, we must also praise the positives, to which their remain many.

In terms of the Main Event, it was one hell of a bout, and even as a mere updater, I feel like  I've done 10 rounds with Tyson. With 137 players to contend with, life wasn't easy for the Beagle, but it was made that much more enjoyable by a combination of helpful staff and lots of friendly faces at the tables.

A big congratualtions to all the finalists, but especially to G Zaib, Lisa Scotney, Lucy Rokach and Robert Garfield, the latter taking the title after agreeing a deal with the other three participants.

What was certainly noticable though is how 'talk of deals' always seems to rear an ugly head, even when initially discussed in a calm and sensible manner. At first discussions were easy going and relaxed, but once greed started taking over and people worried about trivial things such as paying the waitresses, not breaking a round number and giving Lucy an extra couple of hundred, it all threatened to go slightly sour. At one point they even started to play on because of £100, which Rob Garfield correctly described as 'petty and ridiculous'.

But in the end, a deal was struck amicably and everyone went home with a smile on their face, even Lucy who appeared to be the hardest nut to crack in the striking of a deal.

As for me, well I'm cream-crackered, so it'll be straight to bed for me and a prime opportunity to grab 40 winks before I next hit the road. There seems to be a Fesitval of somesort every week now, but if they are half as fun as this weekend was, then I'll have no reason to complain.

Nighty night, folks and thank you for supporting the blonde live updates.

Hi everyone, just joined up, was at the tourney so now I'll spend an equal amount of time reading this to catch all the bits I missed.  Looks like a great coverage from what I've seen so far.

I was a WAG of a Team Sporting Odds player, Ed Dawson.  It was his first major tourney and although gutted was happy with his 63rd place finish(that's what it said on SO, but not sure after reading this thread), and if you need to be beaten by anyone it might as well be by Lucy Rokach.

Sporting Odds were fantastic hosts to us all weekend. ;applause;
