Title: Re: most infamous Post by: Rod Paradise on November 28, 2006, 04:01:49 PM Guys, the question was have you met anyone infamous. Playing Tarby at brag & blagging into the free bar with Eric Clapton & the Celtic team doesn't count. ;)
A mate from my schooldays has been in the papers a few times, usually with the Police looking for him to assist with enquiries. He managed to be on the run for over 2 years the first time, not bad when living in a town of less than 2000 population :D. During that time he managed to pull a girl out of a burning house, slip away when the police & firebrigade turned up, then come back and let down all the tyres on the police car. Title: Re: most infamous Post by: matt674 on November 28, 2006, 04:05:06 PM Guys, the question was have you met anyone infamous. Playing Tarby at brag & blagging into the free bar with Eric Clapton & the Celtic team doesn't count. ;) i know, i heard the question correctly - to me Floella and Brian inflicted more pain and suffering on the world than the Krays ever did!! ;D Title: Re: most infamous Post by: AndrewT on November 28, 2006, 04:05:46 PM As a younger monkey i once met Floella Benjamin and Brian Cant at the airport!! some of the drivel they put my through scarred me for life :D Brian Cant opened my school fete. I bet those were a nice little earner for him back in the day. When the Trumpton characters were brought back for an advertising campaign recently, Brian Cant auditioned to do the voiceover (him being the voice of Trumpton and all). He didn't get it - losing out to the guy from the Fast Show. Title: Re: most infamous Post by: booder on November 28, 2006, 04:06:24 PM Guys, the question was have you met anyone infamous. I was once told that Lindi St Clair, Madame Whiplash was a personal friend of a former blonde moderator and tried to convert her to lesbianism. Said Mod told me herself. On Msn. Now then a sweepstake for the time taken before she comes onto the thread, indignant at my lack of secrecy please? I'll go for 1 hr 40 mins. Title: Re: most infamous Post by: RED-DOG on November 28, 2006, 04:37:34 PM I know a lot of the great bare knuckle fighters. These guys are true gladiators, they will fight for honour or for money. Title: Re: most infamous Post by: mex on November 28, 2006, 06:16:25 PM When i was about 5 or 6 'uncle' Ernie an old friend of my dads often popped round, always in a new car, be it a big Rover or Jag or daimler, he was always in a suit and would give me a fiver when he left , always from a roll of notes, about 5 years ago i spotted his face on TV about Gangsters that Mrs Kray made (britains hardest men ?), he was the onlhy man the featured Gangster wouldn't cross.(he's dead now btw)
shocking considering i'd sit on his lap and he would draw me bunny rabbits!! I asked my dad about him and my Dad said he looked after the clubs in the North that the others couldn't look after, on behalf of someone else?, but my Dad went to school with him and Joe Cocker, and Ernie had promised he would always look in when he had a chance. I would try and find more out about him but i really don't want to destroy the image i have of him from childhood. LOL, Title: Re: most infamous Post by: smithy69 on November 29, 2006, 09:02:56 AM Thought I had better finish my post from yesterday regarding Myra Hindley as I had to leave work.
Both my parents are Prison Officers and have been for some time now so this is where the link starts. I finished my stint in the local football academy and decided I had better get a job to help subsidise my weekend visits to the pub. My parents let me know there was a position going within the Prison that they thought I would be suitable for (Finance/Supplies), and after a panel of 3 people interviewed me(2 I knew, and 1 I knew alot better if ya catch me drift- and no she wasn't old) ended up with the job and can honestly say it was superb. Brilliant people to work with and some of the things I saw still make me laugh now (even if they shouldn't). My Mum is a hard so and so, and works in the Segregation Unit where all the naughty people go(the ones that play up,serious criminals,or ones that are put in there for their own safety). I used to work about 5 metres above this Segregation unit but in all honesty never heard a thing. I used to visit my mum for a chat etc sometimes and obviously knew that Myra Hindley was kept there, but honestly never thought about it as I suppose you get used to walking amongst criminals on visits to the landings etc. I met her by complete accident. I opened the door to the Seg and saw this very very old woman doing her washing outside one of the cells. She said 'Hello' and I said the same, and asked her how were things today etc - normal stuff really. Had a good 10 minute chat with her and have to say my 1st impression was, what the hell is this old lady doing in prison - she looks like my Gran. My mum obviously heard me in the corridor after a bit and came out to see me. She asked if my day was going ok, and did I fancy a cup of tea in the office. At this point she said ''Myra, is everything ok'' FU****** Hell I have just been thinking this old lady reminded me of my Gran, and then suddenly I am informed I have been talking to the most Infamous Child killer in the world. Incidentally my Mum was in Hospital with her when she passed away, and was offered £150k by a well known Sunday Newspaper for a picture of her on her death bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
