Title: Private Sponsorship(s) Post by: JoeStrummer on December 01, 2006, 10:41:07 PM Just wondering how many “pros” and I use the word pro loosely are privately sponsored players? not sponsored by sites etc, but by friends, family and actually do it to make money for both parties. The reason I ask is that I came across this guys blog http://highstacks.blogspot.com/ which it appears that he has a friend funding him to play. That’s fine, but why would you fund someone to play for them?

I have seen a lot of very good poker players, who could make decent money from the game, but they have a problem, leakage. This leakage is normally in the form of blackjack, roullette, horses etc etc.
The point I am trying to make is, even though they may win more often than not, their bakrolls are normally decimated. It would therefore make sense to take a percentage or bankroll a player in this case. Always remembering that the leakage or loss of bankroll can come from many different areas not just the one highlighted above.
