Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: Woodsey on December 07, 2006, 05:50:41 PM any norkage? rotflmfao Thats a proper response!!! Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: TightEnd on December 07, 2006, 06:38:06 PM Interestingly the film was panned by the critics Stateside who expected a far more critical account of the day from someone with Stone's track record of films surrounding the Vietnam issue. They seemed to regard it as sugary and lachrymose. Not sure how you avoid the emotions though on subject matter such as this
This side of the water the critical reception to it was warmer Personally I thought it was an excellent film, more so because it represented a departure from Stone's normal work and seemed to convey a genuine respect to the scale of events on that day. Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: Rooky9 on December 07, 2006, 08:16:02 PM How does the film show the events, is it built around a set of characters who were in the building or fire dept? I'll probably make an effort to watch this over the weekend

Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: nirvana on December 07, 2006, 08:44:43 PM This weekend was watching a conspiracy film on youtube called 9/11 Mysteries - no great hypothesis on the why (though some suggestions made) but a very clear case for the collapse of the towers not being a structural failure based on the planes hitting.
I found the whole thing interesting and the details surrounding why on earth Tower 7 collapsed later in the day to be very compelling arguments for the fact that the buildings fell as result of controlled demolitions. I know it's a bit unrelated but it was on my mind. Anyway, I'm now convinced the WTC collpasing was not only as a result of planes hitting it. I must admit I hated it from the minute I knew it would be Stone who had the first film out about it. United 93 was more to my taste. Complete opposite for me, i thought 93 was tosh I can understand that. Everyone I went with hated it too. WTC wasn't that bad - I guess I told myself I wasn't going to like it well before I entered the cinema. (say that quickly!) Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: BigTomatoes on December 08, 2006, 01:06:19 AM fuel doesnt burn high enough to melt steel , scientific impossibility
and a couple of hours is hardly prolonged Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: thetank on December 08, 2006, 01:11:06 AM Your concurring with a sentiment not to start it all again manifests itself in an interesting manner. :)
Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: Rooky9 on December 08, 2006, 01:13:28 AM fuel doesnt burn high enough to melt steel , scientific impossibility and a couple of hours is hardly prolonged It wouldn't have to melt it. Correct! Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: AceofWands on December 08, 2006, 01:25:26 AM fuel doesn't burn high enough to melt steel , scientific impossibility and a couple of hours is hardly prolonged Well if you are not trying to start another conspiracy debate this doesn't look like it. Its funny out these type of conspiracy theories resurface at the slightest mention of the subject. I wonder why? ::) Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: thetank on December 08, 2006, 01:30:59 AM I've been putting off going to see this movie.
The old disaster movies of the 70's used to be the only one's that would get to me when I was wee. Even though the special effects were pants, and the stories entirely fictional. The thought of one inspired by true events, with today's standards of realism. I might have to go see it, but will be unavailable for comment afterwards. Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: Royal Flush on December 08, 2006, 01:39:46 AM Every single major incident in the world has a conspiracy story behind it.
Why do people always look for such things, why can't they just take things at face value! Title: Re: World Trade Center, the film Post by: Rooky9 on December 08, 2006, 01:39:53 AM I think I cried at ET.... let me check what year that was released to see iff that was acceptable!
