Title: Rounders
Post by: ACE2M on September 13, 2005, 12:42:09 PM
Played the ladder style stt's for the first time last night.

Reached the top ladder on 1st attempt, dealt AA on 3rd hand end up all in 3 way pot. AA v AK v QQ. QQ wins. Lot of time invested for f*** all. Still quite enjoyable tho.

Is that the Prima Poker one?

I bought in at Level 3 last week, got through to the final without too many problems but it took an age for it to fill.

I won after being down to 500 chips vrs 14,500 heads-up.  Probably my best come back ever.... anyway, where is the best value in these type of tournaments?  What level/ladder/step/round is good buy-in at?

Obviously I'm keen on Rounders now, but wouldn't mind trying a few others

this was on prima.

i bought in at bottom level for $4. eventual first prize is $500 and the standard of play is pretty poor.

As regards the best value etc i don't know but would like to know any opinions or details from any other ladder climbers.

I tend to play a level 3 ($30) first and if I get through go on to level 4 and play for the money. if I loose a couple I'll drop down and play level 2 ($10) until I have a few credits then I'll start trying to ride each level 2 win up to the cash. I won't play level 1 because it's so random.

Level 3 does seem to be a popular starting place.  On Prima that is $112.50+$11.25.  So if you hit the cash ($500 for 4th in the final round) it's pretty much four times your buy-in.  Level 2 and 1 struck me as a little too much hard work but the value obviously increases the lower you start.

i've been heading in at level 3 too, and winning 50% of them so far, which is a great return. highly recommended.
