Title: grovesnor needs to listen to customers
Post by: sofa----king on December 18, 2006, 04:46:48 PM
i know they are in the main light, for critisism, but they really should listen--------------to customers.
e.g   swansea......lastnight
 £20 re-buy 49 runners......prizepool £5,800  ( nice pot)     aprox 290,000 in play average stack 22,000      14 left
i was lucky enough to be chip leader with 70,000.........the blinds were
2,000-4,000 ...  20 MINUTE BLINDS.... in my opinion and all who were playing in this.... it was disgracefull.......the time was 12.30 and all this casino seems to worry about is finishing at 3am ...in my eyes and all who were playing were sick about this coz as yall know it turns the game into a crapshoot with average having 5 x big blind...as yall know its only 1 move... THIS IS NOT POKER THIS IS PUNTING.
we aired our concerns to phillip the manager and he said theres nothing he can do but said it will be looked in to in the future, saying that grovesnor will be setting up a forum from january   ( great idea ) but i still feel strongly at lastnight we the customers who have paid OUR money  and OUR JUICE i really feel the manager should have listened to ALL of us as it was a lot of money to play for £2850 the winner ,..........this is definateley not the first time for this to happen in swansea i hope it will be the last......as they got a great card room and staff just somtimes we all wish they would listen......during play........

this is not a threat swansea but a concern, but aspers is coming soon and we would like to stay faithfull. please think of this when ALL your customers ask for a little move ability..
other than this i consider swansea grovesnor to be one of the most friendly casinos in the country...........just please listen JAMES

but surely you knew the structure before you started - i'm guessing its the same week after week after week?

How else will you get chance to spend your winnings on the roulette and blackjack if the tourney were to finish at 5.30am instead of 3am?

sometimes its the same matt but there were more runners lastnight and more re-buys ,the management should have the option to change the blinds or slow the clock down like they do all over the country but....not swansea....sean in cardiff looks at the situation and acts accordingly as do a lot of grovesnors,,,but...not swansea.....and yes i knew the structure before hand ...but i didnt know there would be 14 left and the blinds were 2k-4k mate otherwise YIP i wouldnt have played....

If there were more runners last night then surely they would have to speed the clock up/raise the blinds quicker in order to get the tournament finished at the same time, making it a more crapshooty tournament than usual.

Remember, casinos don't really make any money from poker players who play in a tournament all night and don't touch the house games. The players least likely to be fussed about short clocks/crapshoots are (in my opinion) more likely to hit the roulette once they've been knocked out (and vice versa).

Would you have been as likely to do this if the tournament had gone on longer?

If they do not make money it is purely down to the way they run the cardroom and plaease do not get me started on this one. Also if they are offering the facility they know that some of those players will play all night. I  now do not play the tables as a matter of principle and view the casino as poker clubthat could be run better for both the casino and the players.

Rant over you can come out now

WHY HAVENT ALL GROVESNORS GOT THE SAME RULES>>
are they all franchised out ?????

because each is run as an an autonomous club with its own p and l from which managers bonuses are paid.

There is a central rules committee which is riven by politics and rivalries.

I am recentlyelected onto a players forum for my local Grosvenor. Its a complete waste of time so far trying to effect change. The whole corporate culture is backward, insular and anti customer service.

Shame, because a lot of the cardroom staff around the country are excellent and frustrated by those above them resisting improvement because "we've always done it like this"
