Title: Good bye
Post by: matt674 on December 27, 2006, 09:59:37 PM
I'd like to take this opportunity to say good bye to the forum.

I'm about to get 25 years for the murdering of a linesman...................

That was a horrible decision, you could see it on his face at the end that he knew he had got it wrong.

For the life of me I have no idea as to what he thought that he saw  >:?

Having slept on it and having been unable to track the assistant referee's address last night i realize that maybe my decision was a little hasty.

I mean it is very easy to mistake the arm of a 6'3'' black man in a red shirt with the arm of a 5'8'' white man in a white shirt when there is 2 feet of daylight between the two of them whislt standing no less than 10 feet away from them. ???

In the meantime however i have managed to trace his name - Steve Artis and discover that he lives in Norwich which is a little too far for my tree vines to reach. Nakor lives in Norwich but he's a gooner so chances are i wont be able to enlist his help in forwarding my gift wrapped brick to Mr Artis.

true - for i minute i got caught up in all the hype surrounding the fact that we've actually got someone in charge who can actually manage a football team.

i forgot that unfortunately he doesn't have the tactical awareness of a truely great manager like Glen Roeder.......  ;whistle;

You could have the best manager in the world but with the likes of Djimi T and Amdy Faye in your team results aren't going to improve that dramatically.

Tactics are overratted. The best football I have been privileged enough to watch was managed by a supposedly tactically inept person. As for Roeder, over the last 38 games (the length of a season) there'll only be four managers with more points in the PL).

Keegan ??

Yes

The biggest joke in football.

Only went for a job which was a sure thing and he still fucked it up. Failed to buy the league at Newcastle, even though Blackburn did it the season before and for less money. Went to Fulham, again a sure thing and he didn't light the world up there either. He then got the England job, LOL. Then went to Man City, into a brand new stadium and still he got them into £60million worth of debt.

You played great attacking football - but what did you win? Value for money? I don't think so!

Now hold on.

One game away from relegation to what would have been the old division three. The next season (and not with millions spent) we win the first ten games striaght) We bought well. Rob Lee's, Andy Cole, Scot Sellers etc to push on and seemlessly become a top PL team.

Admittitedly the cash did get thrown around on the likes of Barton but that was a completely separate period to the John Beresfords, Phillipe Albert (absolute god!) et al. The turning point being the March/April of the 95/96 season and Asprillia's work permit coming through.

We certainly werent anything like a Chelsea of our time. (we werent spending masses more than other clubs were. Until you add the Shearer deal in Summer 96). The worst spending was done by Gulliet - Ferguson, Marcelino, Goma.

Kevin Keegan rebuilt the football club as well as a team, and for that reason he'll always be held in high regard by me.

Talking of clubs trying to buy Trophy's whats this about tottenham wanting to buy ANOTHER young English centre back?!!

 ;)

King is playing with an injury and Dawson needs competition - he's been making a few mistakes recently, as you saw at your place the other day!

Newcastle's change in fortunes coincided with the forming of the EPL. You were the ultimate sleeping giant after Man United.

Don't let them times cloud your judgement. I know before he got there, your average attendance was under 20k, but John Hall was a bigger reason for your rise,  not Kevin Keegan!

Heres an idea, why dont we empty the bad beat tin of all the 50p's and get a contract out on Graham Poll :)

Keegan would have done well with Newcastle and England if he knew when to shut up shop and defend!

I think he did... but the fact that the 'defenders' weren't defenders didnt let him. I dont remeber us losing from being in front too often to be honest. (Apart from THAT night!)

One David Batty mistake in the middle of the park and two geordies scoring against us for Blackburn (one of which was a foul!) cost us.

Our best referee!  :dontask: I'm up for it if its 2 for 1 in the sales and Uriah Rene can be done too.
