Title: best song of all time??
Post by: Claw75 on December 30, 2006, 02:01:09 PM
Anyone else just finished listening to Virgin Radio's all time top 500 countdown?  Some very surprising songs in the top 10, not to mention the number one spot (and Stairway to Heaven relegated to 47 this year)

I would of put Set the fire to the third bar by snow patrol and martha wainwright higher than chasing cars. So it's all wrong and fixed in my eyes. ;nanana; ;nanana; ;nanana; ;nanana; ;nanana;

The correct answer is God Only Knows by the Beach Boys.

Thankyou, I'll be here all weekend. (Well until I go to leeds in half an hour  ;sexybanana;)

How do you pick one song as you're all time great ? I guess some people have an all time fav in the way some people know they are going to be train drivers from a young age.

I can think of a zillion equal No 1's (nb Stairway to Heaven wouldn't make my top 1000)

For pure pop perfection how about 'Train in Vain'

Not 'arf

Happy new Year and lang may yr lum's reek

If 'Stairway to Heaven' doesn't make your top 100, I guess 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' doesn't make you top 10000! ;)

I know it's all subjective, but that really is a shite list, who came up with that??

And as for Snow Patrol, am I the only one who thinks they are a load of boring drony same ol shit dross?

I have never heard Snow Patrol before.  I don't listen to modern music much, just old rock bands like the WHO, etc

I quite like Snow Patrol :)

Wouldn't be top 100 though for me.

Goo Goo dolls' Iris is actually one of my fave songs (from City of Angels), and TBH it's the only thing that I know them for. As for Snow Patrol, Kev found that this was available to listen to on the flight to Singapore and I must confess I couldn't think of who they were at the time, so a few seconds of listening to 'Chasing Cars' and it was an 'OH THEM!!!' moment. I downloaded the album when I got back and now I'm totally hooked, Cheers Kev  :D
