Title: Re: Can i get away from this on the river? Post by: Graham C on January 03, 2007, 08:15:32 AM I'd have called preflop but on hitting trips on the flop and there being a flush draw out there I'd have to raise.

I agree...I don't like the flatcall on the flop much. I check raise here. A FD will most likely call anyways and then you can get all your chips/dosh in on a non-spade turn making him have to pay a lot to hit his spade on the river and, assuring you have a half decent pot if he decides to fold there. Title: Re: Can i get away from this on the river? Post by: tantrum on January 03, 2007, 11:18:33 AM You have 4 opponents in the pot, 1 of them is very likely to be on the flush draw.
So you either flat call it, and when the turn misses the flush you bet a pot or at least 3 time of their initial raise if you are able to fold if they hit their flush on the river. It is obvious one of them is drawing, so either you make them pay for their draws or build up a pot and when they hit you don't give them more money. If it is tough for you to laid down the set, you should re-raise on the flop, with you flat call he prob put you on the flush draw as well... C/r - c/c against so many players,. not so sure it is a good idea... Title: Re: Can i get away from this on the river? I'm not sure I liked the way you played it though, screamed set to me. Not too keen on your River bet either. Title: Re: Can i get away from this on the river? Your river bet should be a blocker/value bet, therefore $50 is OK, but I'd prefer to stick in an amount closer to half that here. This way you should still get a call if you're ahead, and not lose too much if you're beat. As it happens, it should have been an easy fold. |
