Just read Jen's latest article on ipods, and was just wondering what you gusy thought. Are they as popular as I think they are?

Personally, I like wearing one because it helps me focus, but I do find it irriating if someone has the volume too loud and is slowing down the game.

I always wear my ipod, online or live.

People say I miss things, but I keep it on a volume that I can still hear most things around me. That being said, when I get a hand live, I take it off to make sure I miss nothing.

Jen made a good point though in her article. Never listen to music that you will listen to and not 'ignore'. My music is there obviously, but it channels me rather then entertains me. I am there for cards, not music. That being said, I forgot my ipod one night a month ago or so, and I couldnt believe how irritated I was by the lapses and the chit chatter.

I love listening to my ipod because I feel like it helps me concentrate, also because I find it so hard to keep a poker face, if I listen to my ipod it sort of helps me because I just focus on the music.

You've failed to mention what some of us do, namely wear our headphones but not have the iPod switched on.

As long as you don't show any reaction to anything you hear, it's like you're James Bond.

How can anyone vote a thing like an ipod s a bad thing, it either adds to your life or you don't own one, simple innit?

Sry, maybe I should have been more specific. I meant ipods at the poker table rather than just in general.

I like listening to the ipod to dicate my plays...ACDC = dont F*** with me... Will young = raise or limp till the cows come home

I rarely wear an ipod at the table as i deffinitely concentrate less. I did vote that they should be banned, but dont necesrily object to them if the user is aware of what is going on and turns it down when it is his/her to act. In vegas in the summer it seemed that every table i sat at in tournmanets there was an idiot who had to be nudged/kicked/punched to let him know it was there turn to act. Very irritating. People should get time penos if the continually do that !!

I love I pods. As one who like a fair amount of noise at the table I have much pleasure with people sitting next me wearing an i pod. It goes like this

Person on left settles down at table.....
Says hello and puts on ipod.......Metaphorically saying to me I am not going to talk to you.
Me waiting until I am sure it is on..."What you listening to then?"
Much performance as matey switches off said device and says "Leo Sayer"
Oh says me.
Let him go through the process of putting his earpiece back in. Back on goes Leo Sayer....... Me having waited 30 secs "You like Leo Sayer then do you?"
Slowly removing earpiece matey says pardon...so I repeat. I am starting to get through.

This process is repeated as required

My record of waiting for an earpiece to go back in and then making matey remove is 8 in forty five minutes but more than this it has added a whole new dimension to live poker

Absolute classic i can imagine that by the 8th removal of earphones he'd be slightly edgy and had called you various things in his thoughts

I implore/urge/strongly encourage you to take similar action and log the results on this forum.

I don't mind I-pods...I only wear mine when I am playing online at home though...just to prevent me from being bored. In a live game I wouldn't even consider it.
