silly yank >:? Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: Canuck on January 10, 2007, 07:38:07 AM Had a conversation with an american last night about this very thing. He had a nut flush and after slow playing it, his opponent moved in on the river, he called immediately obv with the nuts and proceeded to type in 'thank you.' I hate that, so I typed in 'nh, but no need to disrespect other player's moves'. He proceeded to grow angry at the thought his comments were rude and that it is only a part of the game. A little later, I sucked out on a guy and typed in 'ul mate'. He then berated me saying unlucky mate was the same as thank you.
Any one agree with him? I am curious Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: Colchester Kev on January 10, 2007, 07:47:29 AM The most irritating thing you can say in the chatbox is "sorry" after you have made a fkin awful call and hit your miracle.
you are NOT sorry, you called because you wanted to win the fkin hand !!!! so why rub it in and say sorry when you do. UL is fine in my mind .... but I really really hate "sorry" Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: charmaine on January 10, 2007, 08:00:33 AM The most irritating thing you can say in the chatbox is "sorry" after you have made a fkin awful call and hit your miracle. Pauls the same , hates people saying "sorry " he's pet hate you are NOT sorry, you called because you wanted to win the fkin hand !!!! so why rub it in and say sorry when you do. UL is fine in my mind .... but I really really hate "sorry" Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: Graham C on January 10, 2007, 08:30:07 AM I agree, I don't like sorry. I don't really like nice hand if it's not a nice hand either. Nice flushes aren't nice hands, Royal flushes and quads are nice hands imo, and even then the person has to be using both cards that he holds and not 4 from the board, although I may say well played if they played it well.
I don't say unlucky either as it doesn't help I don't think. Certainly wouldn't dream of saying thank you to someone that paid me off. Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: Sark79 on January 10, 2007, 11:08:37 AM I hate chat boxes. I try to never use them and on VC/Blonde etc, I just turn them off.
Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: thetank on January 10, 2007, 11:38:31 AM You really want to rub somebody down a treat type in
"nh ul gg" all at the same time. :)up It's a big world, lots of different types in it. The best thing to type if you don't want to upset people is probably absolutely nothing. Especially when you win a pot, the loser may choose to get himself worked up at anything. We should all please ourselves though, I know of nobody who ever got a chat ban for typing "ul" so keep doing it. Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: kinboshi on January 10, 2007, 12:04:16 PM You really want to rub somebody down a treat type in "nh ul gg" all at the same time. :)up rotflmfao I always say 'sorry', 'ul', and 'only online'. It really winds people up. Although the biggest wind up is the 'ty' before anyone has said 'nh' or 'wp' or anything. That really does get on people's nerves, used to annoy me a little. Now it just makes me laugh. This misunderstanding might explain a comment I got the other day. I get AK in the BB and shorty moves all in UTG with A5 and doesn't hit. I usually wouldn't say anything at this point, but he commented 'nice hand to have in the bb' so I politely replied 'ty ul'. He then said - 'i know i lost, but thanks for the update' which had me a bit befuddled (what a nice word). I think in future I'll type unlucky in full.

Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: Ginger on January 10, 2007, 05:47:17 PM I would never say sorry as I hate it myself lol. If I have played it bad and outdrawn particularly nastily I may say 'ouch ul', but that's as much as they're getting from me.

Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: ItsMrAlex2u on January 10, 2007, 08:54:31 PM An annoying one happened to me recently, was on a final table and some moron was saying he was there because he had "Tribeca tracker" which told him what the flop was going to be (uh huh). anyway it was funny at first but then got REALLY irritating. He moved in on me at one point with J7 and i called with AK.
Before the flop came he typed in "Tracker, UL" and sure enough spiked a 7. I was fuming !! Took him out in the end though which was v satisfying ! I regretted it as soon as I wrote it, and when the colonial opponent piped up in the chatbox to ask what ffs meant, I told him it was Scottish for 'nh'. 'Oh, thanks' he replied. :D Title: Re: 'ul' Post by: kinboshi on January 10, 2007, 09:11:25 PM I try to avoid chat now, but once in a moment of pique I typed 'ffs' after some particularly ridiculous play caught lucky.
