Nothing you can do by the time the river comes - maybe you can get away on the turn, but he is not going to push u off the hand anyway which means u see the river. u/l - next comp Title: Re: am i an idiot? the thing was, he didnt. he check raised but i could have flat called his check raise and still had 1700 chips. i think i was being too greedy rereraising thinking it was a defo split pot Title: Re: am i an idiot? Anyone with an overpair is likely to put in a small river bet to try and keep it cheap for them and/or to see where they are. *If the non-paired river card (the 3 in this instance) is greater than the lower pair (77) then you may not want to raise as he may have a higher FH of course. As for the river i play it the same even tho he has check raised you, there are more hands you are beating than losing to. It might be a pure bluff or an over ambitious 7 even an awfully played overpair (i have seen it before). The only reason not to get it all in here is if we were on the bubble in SNG or MTT.
