Ok playing a SnG recently and I get  Ahrt 4h in the BB. I check with 3 limpers.

The flop comes  2h 3h 9c.  I bet 1/2 the pot and get one caller.

The turn is the  5h, giving me a straight flush. I check, the other guy bets 1/2 the pot and I call.

The river is a blank and I bet enough to put him all in. He calls. Obv I win the hand.

However, what was interesting is after the hand someone said 'vnh, always nice to have the nuts'. To which another player responded 'he didn't have the nuts,  6h 4h, was the nuts". I said "lol ok" and continued as I was 3 tabling.

After the set was over I thought about what he said.

Is the nuts the best two hole cards you could have based on the board, or is the nuts an unbeatable hand?

Just curious

you had the nuts theres only one  4h in a deck.

I know I had the nuts, there is obviously only one four of hearts in the deck

My question is if the nuts is the best possible hand based upon the board (in this case 46 hearts) or is the nuts any hand that cant be beat?

another example is if you have KQ on a KKQ52 board you cannot be beat, but the best possible hand is still KK for quads.

The nuts is always the best hand that can possibly be made with all the possible information you have to hand:

to the rest of the table the nuts before you show your hole cards is  6h 4h

however because you know information that the rest of the table doesn't then you know that the nuts is  Ahrt 4h as like Vinni says unless your playing with a dodgy deck there is only one  4h

though saying that someone else could have already folded the 6h and therefore knew that the nuts was also  Ahrt 4h

what i thought. Just curious.
