Title: PLO is best?
Post by: The Truth on September 19, 2005, 06:06:08 PM
Now, it's a known fact that just about every poker player in the UK wants to play in the 'main' event in the WSOP - the $10k buyin NLHE event. Well P4C is looking to setup both live and online sats for this event in 2006, only thing is so is everybody else. However, not many will be running sats to the $10k PLO event. P4C is, all we need is enough players prepared to cough up the cash to play in a sat. It is hoped we can get 20 players paying £325 + £50 each for a winner takes all sat to this event which would include flight and accomodation and hopefully a bit of spendies. Roy Houghton has already agreed to officiate the sat. All profit from the sat goes to Game for Life. If the winner is a Blondite we have no objection to sharing the shirt branding. Who is up for it?

Just spoken to the designer - www.At-It.co.uk will be live by Thursday lunchtime!!!! You have been warned!!!!!

In terms of clock and starting stacks we are looking to go 'big' poss 10000 with 2 hour clock (maybe 90mins) the tournament has to be completed in one session though because of costs.

More than willing to listen to any suggestions, as the main thing is to turn a wee profit for Game for Life and to have representatives of Team P4C in the WSOP. Even happy to run sats to the sat etc. I honestly believe that if we get enough Brits in the PLO event one could go on to win it.

great idea

Maybe an online company will want to run sats for the sat. However in the meantime I am happy to run a £10 rebuy sat with NO reg fee with a seat in the main sat being awarded for every £375 in the kitty. The proviso for this offer is that I can find a venue that doesn't charge or charges what I can personally afford (i.e. not much).

Another idea is that 10 mates get together put £37.50 into the kitty and play out to see who represents them in the sat if that player wins the sat they could all be on 10% (as a kind of poker syndicate) if he/she cashes in vegas.

OOOOOOPS nearly forgot to mention that the winner of the sat (and all other P4C sats - other WSOP events, WPT, EPT etc.) will be provided with a new wardrobe (Ok suit carrier) of top quality Poker4Charity/Game for Life Clothing.

No more trips to GA (that's Giorgio Armani not Gamblers Anonymous) for our lucky winners.

I am looking for a location central to most people. As you can imagine some will be happier than others but I believe we will either reach a result that pleases most people or p***es most people off. For that read Middle England - comutting distance from London, North West, Wales and at a push the North East (I always get the wrong end of the stick). If the response is big enough we will hold one in the South and one in the North.

Looking forward to meeting you Ben.

Davey you are a man who truely understands what Vegas is all about!!

How was i supposed to know he was the Casino owner!!!

Give 1 man a rub down in a year and he is the only 1 who realistically might shoot me!

James the worst part was not only did you give Jackie G, a legend of vegas (the owner of the El Cortez and Plaza, having taken the El Cortez off of Bugsy Siegel in 1948) the rub down you did it with a losing hand!!!!!!

Least I had the sense to eat the cherries and olives he offered me (God I hate those olives!!!!).

It's official I will be playing the sat for the sat and if I don't get in I will be playing the sat. What a wonderfull opportunity for the British Poker playing public. This is like being able to jam with Elvis for little more than a fiver,

And as you say Flushy we can sing Jerusalem from the El Cortez!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really want to play a PLO freezeout at an affordable price so let me know when and where this comp is preferable somewhere with airlink to aberdeen or inverness and not central london (costs of traveling are up this year and i dont want to pay for them using my bankroll) and i'll see about playing

might mean i will have to get a passport to play the prize but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it

Ironside I am doing all I can to make sure the 'MAIN SAT' is outside central London and preferably in East/West Midlands.

The 'Sats for the Sat' events.........firstly I have not yet had any contact with any online companies (due to the fact most my time is taken up with meetings at present, something Malc-M can testify to) if I get chance this week I will make calls. The sites that can hold our events are: William Hill, VC, Blue Square, Betfair, BetFred, Pacific, Coral Eurobet. No other site can be considered except on reciept of £1000. Apologises to anyone who wants to take part but don't play on those sites but 'thems the rules', as they say.

Secondly it seems we might be able to run a couple of live £10 rebuy 'sat for the sat' events, perhaps one in the North and one in the South. Any suggestions on venues gratefully recieved - ideally free and private that will hold 30-50. If anyone wishes to hold their own homegame sat that is fine by me.

The winner of the main sat will not be paid out in cash. The winnings will be held in Game for Life Enterprises' 'Client Account' (a non-interest bearing holding account) and be used to pay the winner into the $10k PLO WSOP Championship event, flights, accomodation and insurances. Any remaining money will be then paid out in cash prior to departure.

Apologises for the boring bit but it explains the situation right from the off to avoid any confussion later on. Full T&Cs will be published prior to the first official 'sat for the sat' taking place.

I have been very encouraged with the response and it would be fantastic if we can return home next year with a bracelet winner (or very high cash).

Hi Dave,

I would very much like to do this, but would have to do it via the satelite to the satelite route as a large chunk of my bankroll is earmarked for the Omaha tourney at the Gutshot next week.

Scotland doesnt exist? I forgot... its just "THE NORTH" to you guys. Bugs me that, signs on the M25 say THE NORTH. But its not the fking north, its the shitty south! The north doesn't start until you reach the outskirts of Manchester
