Title: Omaha exit hand - please help Post by: Graham C on January 13, 2007, 06:49:09 PM I'm trying to work out why I'm not quite getting there in tournaments at the moment so I'm going to look at exit/damaging hands to see where I'm going wrong.
So, tourrney 1, any thoughts on the way I played it? PokerStars Game #7915727154: Tournament #39825059, $10+$1 Omaha Pot Limit - Level XII (800/1600) - 2007/01/13 - 13:40:47 (ET) Table '39825059 20' 9-max Seat #7 is the button Seat 2: cbrchutney (42514 in chips) Seat 3: xDANGERZONEx (29676 in chips) Seat 4: tommas1974 (16180 in chips) Seat 5: tommi1212 (64609 in chips) Seat 6: SoerenV (119526 in chips) Seat 7: ArnieAA (63386 in chips) Seat 9: Graham0573 (14868 in chips) Graham0573: posts small blind 800 cbrchutney: posts big blind 1600 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Graham0573 [Ad 5c Kd 3s] xDANGERZONEx: folds tommas1974: folds tommi1212: calls 1600 SoerenV: calls 1600 ArnieAA: folds Graham0573: calls 800 cbrchutney: checks *** FLOP *** [5h 8s 3d] Graham0573: bets 4800 cbrchutney: folds tommi1212: calls 4800 SoerenV: calls 4800 *** TURN *** [5h 8s 3d] [7h] Graham0573: checks tommi1212: checks SoerenV: bets 17600 Graham0573: calls 8468 and is all-in tommi1212: folds *** RIVER *** [5h 8s 3d 7h] [Ts] *** SHOW DOWN *** Graham0573: shows [Ad 5c Kd 3s] (two pair, Fives and Threes) SoerenV: shows [7c 4s 3h 6h] (a straight, Four to Eight) SoerenV collected 37736 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 37736 | Rake 0 Board [5h 8s 3d 7h Ts] Seat 2: cbrchutney (big blind) folded on the Flop Seat 3: xDANGERZONEx folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 4: tommas1974 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 5: tommi1212 folded on the Turn Seat 6: SoerenV showed [7c 4s 3h 6h] and won (37736) with a straight, Four to Eight Seat 7: ArnieAA (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 9: Graham0573 (small blind) showed [Ad 5c Kd 3s] and lost with two pair, Fives and Threes I'm 20 out of 22 left, money is on 18. I called the BB mainly because I'd have nothing for absolutely ages, AKs isn't too bad even though my other cards are crap. Then I made 2 pairs on the flop with my bad cards. Should I have bet into this? Trouble is the chip leader is in the pot. If I don't bet, he will bet then what do I do? The turn card 7h I really didn't want but am I pot commited? I thought so so I called. If I'd have folded I'd have had to double up to still be 20 out of 22. I think (in hindsight having lost the hand) I should have just folded preflop. I usually look for some sort of relationship between all four cards but not having played a hand for ages I thought I'd see what happens on the flop with this one. The two pairs with my weak two hards was a bit o a surprise. Fold preflop next time, wait for better times, especially around the bubble. Shame the CL had so many chips, I'd have folded his hand preflop for sure :D Title: Re: Omaha exit hand - please help Post by: matt674 on January 13, 2007, 07:40:52 PM [quote author=Silo Graham link=topic=19060.msg387618#msg387618 date=1168714149

Calling pre is super standard, your hand on the flop is pretty weak with little chance of improvment, so call preflop, and check flop with a view to folding if theres any action behind.
