Title: Rock Balboa
Post by: Triple X on January 14, 2007, 09:20:18 PM
Just in the middle of watching the film.

Apparently his record is 57wins and 23 defeats in his career with 2 times champion

Firstly i thought in Rocky 3 he had loads of title defences?  Does this stat means he was only world champion twice?

Also when did he lose 23 fights?  Anyone know how many he lost before he fought Apollo in the first one for the World title shot?

Cheers

defending your title doesnt mean you become champ again.

he lost it and won it back in 3, hence becoming champ for the 2nd time.

we have only seen him lose twice in 1&3 so he must have had 21defeats b4

anyway quality film

definitely in my top sixrocky films of all time!!

In Rocky 1 he was a washed up old bruiser with his career behind him. Working for a loan shark to make ends meet.

In the storyline, his losses came before that film.

so he lost 21 fights before Apollo in Rocky 1 and then went on to become one of the greatest heavyweight champions and look unbeatable.

That is pretty impressive.  How did he go from zero to hero in such a way.

Seems so incredible they should make a film about him!!

Over 12 million people a year visit the Philadelphia Art Museum.

Less than 300 a day actually go inside, the rest just climb the stairs.

(I made those numbers up, only repeat in a cocktail party setting at your own risk)

First Blood is better still.

Did anyone hear the Reading fans, when they were 0-1 up against Everton?  "Rocky, Rocky, what's the score, Rocky, Rocky tell us the score!"

Rocky III is where he learnt how to box properly and discovered the way of the tiger.

I considered trying the raw egg training diet when I was young and into cycling, but in the end decided it was a sure way to get food poisoning.

Rocky I was fresh, unique, had a great script and Stallone acted the part well. Didn't it even win best picture or something? After that it became like a comic book.

Crap but enjoyable.

An hour in to the new Rocky film and my God it's dull.   Thankfully it's not overly long and there's only 45 mins left to go.

I'm not going to complain too much, the fight at the end was entertaining.  Reminded me of Bruno v McCall :D

Perhaps they were ahead of their time and it's based around the career of Audley Harrison! ;ifm; ;ifm; ;ifm;
