Title: Multiple wireless adapters on one phone line? Post by: Tractor on January 17, 2007, 09:43:29 PM Can i have more than one wireless network adaptor on my line to give greater coverage in my house?
Ive got a BT Home hub. The reason for this is im putting a log cabin down the garden and my existing wireless router doesnt reach there, so i was going to wire a phone point down there and connect another wireless hub. If that makes any sense. Title: Re: Multiple wireless adapters on one phone line? Post by: FlyingPig on January 17, 2007, 09:59:10 PM I think you can put a booster/repeater station in
Although that will be soon confirmed or denied. Title: Re: Multiple wireless adapters on one phone line? Post by: Bongo on January 17, 2007, 10:09:25 PM That's possible.
You couldn't have 2 seperate connections to the internet operating at the same time. If you were going to run a phone cable to the cabin you could just run some network cable - far easier. Haven't used one myself but have used lots of netgear stuff with no probs BB Title: Re: Multiple wireless adapters on one phone line? Bongo, do you mean run a cable from the router to the cabin and then plug the wireless access point into the cable? Title: Re: Multiple wireless adapters on one phone line? Bongo, do you mean run a cable from the router to the cabin and then plug the wireless access point into the cable? Yes, exactly Not using repeater mode as I doubt there's a suitable place to plonk the access point to get signal from the router and give it to the cabin. I'm old fashioned though, I like wires... they work! Title: Re: Multiple wireless adapters on one phone line? Post by: Ironside on January 18, 2007, 01:44:58 AM if your going to run wires all the way down to the log cabin why not plug the cable straight into the PC/lappy much better connection in the long run
