Title: Bad beat jackpots?
Post by: TightEnd on January 18, 2007, 01:34:01 PM
Are these routinely paid out eg daily? weekly? hardly ever?

what typically qualifies?

are they for real or a marketing whizz?

do you typically win more on the jackpot than you would lose on the pot?

what sites are they best on, just out of interest?

No, I haven't had a qualifying hand, was just curious!

It usually applies if a full house gets done by a better house! (I think you have to have used both you hole cards to qualify for the bad beat)

I think they are quite routinely paid out but mainly on there due to the jackpot gets quite high so looks good on the start menu.

Yes you would win more unless you play quite high stakes.

i think most of them give you 50% of the jackpot and the rest is shared amongst the other players at the table.

Nothing comes close to Party for Jackpots. I ain't been around those parts for just over a year, but it used to grow to over half a mill. That'll feed the chickens for a season or two.

Qualifying condition was four 8s beaten (with both players using both cards in the hole)

You have to play at the special tables to qualify too, I believe extra $0.5 rake is taken from each hand. (Some games are uber-loose to compensate.)

Jackpot is split between loser, winner, rest of table and seeding next jackpot. Loser gets 50% I think

I don't think they get paid out too often but they do get paid out

Qualifying hand is generally Jacks full beaten with both hole cards in play.

this is an example of a bbj not being paid:

The Party one used to become +EV to play when it reached a certain size.  There was some analysis of it on 2+2 back in the day.

Haven't logged on there for a while now but I doubt it'll reach the $500k plus levels it used to get up to.

The Ladbrokes one currently seems to go a couple of months between wins - it's lengthened since they took the headline figure off the main lobby.

Currently stands at $62k.

Loser must have Aces full of Tens or better. Both players must use both hole cards (which must suck if your KQ beats AA on a KKKA2 board). Four players must have been dealt in. Hand must go to showdown. Pot must be $20+.

35% for the 'loser', 17.5% for the winner, 17.5% shared amongst the others.

Oh, and they keep 10% for 'administration', which IMO is taking the mick given they rake an extra 50c/pot to fund the thing.

I recall when the Party one got to near on $700k (maybe it was even higher, but it had certainly got to record levels)
They had just changed their software, allowing for play of more than 4 tables.

A fun couple of afternoons in an internet cafe in Brighton, 10 tabling $0.5/$1 Limit cash on my dinky laptop. Backpackers in jumpers giving me the oddest looks.

Closest I got was three of a kind 10s, against a Royal Flush. Quads on the river woulda been schweet, but not to be. :)
Ended up only something like 20BBs down over the course of 3 days, bit of a bonus, I thought it well worth a shot.

We won't mention that the head buzzing from the afternoons might have contributed to me dropping £4k at the festival during the evenings. ::)

I think that seeds the next jakker

So if it's won twice in an hour, the second one wins more than 30p
