Title: Off topic: Where's best web hosting?
Post by: Maroon on September 20, 2005, 08:32:13 PM
I need to get a web site up soon for my new business.  Anyone recommend a good value, yet reliable hosting service?

Cheers.
Lee.

FastHosts are VERY reliable, not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

Pipex do a good job for me, very reliable and very good support.

It all depends what you need from a host. What are you trying to setup?

In general the US based companies are cheaper but they will also tend to be a bit slower (to the UK) as they are based in the states. Typically the support they offer is not as good.

I'd also tend to avoid a host that offers unlimited bandwidth etc. Usually you find that there is an unpublished limit covered by a "reasonable usage" clause and as soon as you hit this your site goes down with no warning or help.
