Post by: doubleup on January 22, 2007, 01:02:43 PM Reads are very important in this situation - do you have pokertracker? It's a must if you are multitabling.
I would bet the turn here against a loose player as he could have KJ/AT/JT or some other crap - if you are c/rd it's an easy fold. There isn't any obvious draw on the flop except gutshots 98/T9/KQ - he could have JJ/77. You are beating AQ - but surely he doesn't bet so big on the river with it. It is difficult to find a hand that would limp in ep, call the flop and not improve on the river (or already have you beaten). He has to be incredibly loose to make a call correct - i.e any ace/any draw on the flop. Title: Re: Easy call or fold ? If I had to I'd give him credit for 2 pair but he could have any weaker Ace aswell and reckons a big bet will put you off after you didn't bet the turn. I fold here BTW..no point in calling. Post by: Smart Money on January 22, 2007, 02:54:55 PM With no info on the player, I'd fold. More often than not a big overbet on the river (usually into a fairly small pot) is a big hand.
I'd be surprised if you're ahead, and my bet would be a set of 7s (maybe AJ.) Poker Tracker is imperative if you're multi-tabling. It is very easy to use together with Game Time+ (A table overlay that you have to download separately.) There is a Poker Tracker forum that can help you set it up. Title: Re: Easy call or fold ? Post by: Highstack on January 23, 2007, 12:24:31 PM You are beating AQ AT and fresh air - that's it! Has to be a pass for me and if he didn't flop a set then I would be amazed.

Doubleup mentioned the hand he had earlier as a possibilty , as it played out i opted for the fold button , thinking that it was a typical donk bet that looked weak but infact it was a big hand Well i was wrong the villain took it upon himself to show the "goods" and he had infact 8s 9c Thankfully nobody advocated a call in this spot , i was worried that i had missed the opportunity to pick off a big bluff (i know i did but how could i call?) I would only ever do it in a live game when someone else is close to tilting has a few 100 more in his pocket that I just KNOW he'll donk off if I show him. any other time..you should not show bluffs, the moment you show one you're not clever anymore IMO Title: Re: Easy call or fold ? He might be on tilt this time, but he will remember and you might not get it through next time with either the villain or anyone else that sits with you both times. It is all one long game. Title: Re: Easy call or fold ? Post by: lazypoker on January 23, 2007, 06:38:55 PM I think he misread the board and thought he had a straight to the ten. He was showing you that he had the goods!
I don't like the check on the turn. It doesn't cost much to bet. From his point of view you might not have AK, you could be on KQ, KK, QQ, TT, or worse. He figures if you check then that is what you have. He takes the free card anyway and bets when he misses "knowing" you didn't have much. |
