Title: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: tantrum on January 22, 2007, 01:35:11 PM Excellent match.
So far Murray 2 -1 Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: kinboshi on January 22, 2007, 02:15:32 PM 2-2 now.
But Murray has been playing the best I've ever seen him. Looked like he was out of it at one stage, but he's battling well. Let's see if he can do it in the final set. ;cheerleader; Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: tantrum on January 22, 2007, 02:22:17 PM Amazing match

Nadal is pretty amazing, how come he looks like a power muscle man, and Murray looks like young boy who rarely goes to the gym? Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: scotty2hatty on January 22, 2007, 03:13:21 PM The boy needs to learn a bit more.... Nadal is pretty amazing, how come he looks like a power muscle man, and Murray looks like young boy who rarely goes to the gym? ridiculous statement, murray has really bulked up and you can see he has good muscle definition now. unlike last year when he was too weak. nadal on the other hand is just a monster. Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: matt674 on January 22, 2007, 03:38:33 PM Nadal is pretty amazing, how come he looks like a power muscle man, and Murray looks like young boy who rarely goes to the gym? Lol, so you weren't actually watching it for the tennis, just the well toned, glistening bodies? ;) Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Sark79 on January 22, 2007, 03:57:55 PM Nadal is a great athlete. I remember watching him being interviewed on transworld sport about 5 years ago. He was a skinny guy in those days and he said he would give being a pro a shot and if it didn't work out he would go back and get an education :D . There is no need for him to do that now

Not really, Nadal looks like a muscle machine. I am not saying that Murray is not good, I was just comparing the bodies. And perhaps Murray needs to work on his body a bit more. Quote Lol, so you weren't actually watching it for the tennis, just the well toned, glistening bodies? Well what else there is to see? LOL Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Karabiner on January 22, 2007, 06:03:02 PM Amazing match, very high quality indeed, and it was a nineteen year old versus a twenty year old.
These two could be disputing the number one spot for the next decade, when Federer retires. These two could be disputing the number one spot for the next decade, when Federer retires. That's the key bit! Nadal might give Federer a run for his money on clay, but Roger is probably the best player of all time (in my opinion). Good to see that Murray is improving, and not flattering to deceive. Just needs a personality now... Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Steelio on January 22, 2007, 06:05:10 PM Im sure one time in the future he will be able to win a Grand Slam, well maybe if Federer is injured or something. At least hes more of a prospect than Henman ever was, but needs to work on his fatigue and when hes losing not pretend he has an injury like usual
Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Horneris on January 22, 2007, 07:12:53 PM I think Dan is a bit harsh on Murray. He has more passion and personality than Henman (bottler) ever did.
I think Murray showed that in a couple of years he will be in the top 5 and maybe win a grand slam, if Federer is injured, but that goes without saying. I thought he played very well, and i enjoyed the match. Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Enzyme_ on January 22, 2007, 08:41:36 PM Great Game tho Murray seemed to lose it a bit in the last set dunno what happened there bit more experience and he'll be up there with the big boys!
Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Nem on January 22, 2007, 09:00:40 PM Federer is a god.
If it wasn't for Nadal being the best clay court player of all time, Federer would win every Grand Slam event - most probably without dropping a set. Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: theswan on January 22, 2007, 10:07:27 PM It was a good performance. If he works on the psychological element of his game, and gets a little more tough mentally....I can see him winning several slams throughout his career. He lost it in the second set, and there were a few instances in the fourth where he was unlucky, then blew break points..and never really got over it.
In a year or two he will be knocking on the door in finals regularly I'm sure. Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: kinboshi on January 22, 2007, 11:10:25 PM I think Dan is a bit harsh on Murray. He has more passion and personality than Henman (bottler) ever did. Yeah, but that's like saying Tikay is younger than Moses. It hardly means he's a spring chicken does it? Murray shows some personality and hunger when he plays, but off the court....he's....dour. If he's winning, I really don't care though. He's got far more potential than Henman had, and if Federer is out of the way for whatever reason then he does have a good chance at winning a slam. Won't be Wimbledon though, but one of the hard courts. Maybe the US is the best one for him? Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: tantrum on January 22, 2007, 11:27:00 PM When Federer is out, Murray should get his coach...

Sure the Mcenroes and Connors livened up the game, but I enjoy watching the quiet, unassuming, all dominant federer dismantling his opponents with flawless, beautiful tennis more so than a guy whooping and hollering on the court.
Andy Murray has a great game. The fact he can take the clear 2nd best player in the world so close in a grand slam event shows the progress he is making, and I think he'll make top 3/4 in the world eventually. I watched the match with some Majorcan friends, where nadal hails from, and all of them were amazed at how good murray is. He's got some titantic matches ahead of him in his career vs the federers nadals roddicks and if he keeps his progress going, I think he'll take down a GS event at some point. Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Sark79 on January 23, 2007, 10:34:01 AM I have never been a big Henman fan, but he will still be dangerous at Wimbledon. He is a great grass court player.
I heard that Marcelo Rios was making a comeback a while ago, but I have heard nothing else. Gustavo Kuerten was also a great clay court player winning 3 French titles. Both these guys are still only in their late 20's/early 30's. These two could have tested Nadal at their peak. I agree though that Nadal is head and shoulders above all other clay court players edit. my mistake, it was the seniors tour he meant :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcelo_R%C3%ADos He was a fantastic clay court player and I honestly feel he could have tested Nadal Title: Re: Murray v Nadal; Australian Open, Melbourne Park Post by: Nem on January 23, 2007, 11:21:45 AM When Federer is out, Murray should get his coach... I do not think Federer even has a coach. When he did, he only used him occasionally :D |
