Title: Can this work ?
Post by: Scott_Kid_poker on January 27, 2007, 03:50:50 PM

Example,

Wolves v WBA

28/01/2007 12:00
  2.40 3.25 2.65

Bet £1,000 on Wolves.   Bet £1,000 on WBA.  If Wolves win my payout = £2,400 takeaway £1,000 stake = £1,400 takeaway £1,000 loseing bet = £400 total profit.

Bet £1,000 on WBA Bet £1,000 on Wolves. If WBA win my payout = £2,650 takeaway £1,000 stake = £1,650 takeaway £1,000 loseing bet = £650 total profit.

Basicly you're betting against the draw when both teams are OVER 2 to 1 against.   Anygood ?  Would you try it ?

bit crushing if its a draw though...

WBA win = +£650
Wolves win = +£400
Draw = -£2000

I wouldn't bother.

It'll work if it's not a draw.

Shouldn't really take the piss. Welcome to blonde Scott Kid  :hello:

It will not work, although a draw unlikely, you risk four times as much as you stand to gain.

It's akin to covering all but a few numbers on the roulette wheel.

You will win most of the time, but the losses will be big when they do come.

Gambling in this manner, attempting to maximize the % of sessions where you win, can quickly lead to ruin. It's not uncommon for those big "unlikely" losses to bunch together in the natural course of things.

No amount of mainpulation will turn a series of negative EV bets into a positive EV bet. (unless you have an infinite bankroll, with someone willing to book infintely large bets)

 ;welcome; Welcome to blonde Scott,

Regarding the bet.....yep it's too risky!

Think longer term and imagine placing this same bet four times and you'll need to win every time to ensure a profit.

Just one draw over the four bets and you're guaranteed a loss overall.
