Title: Superbowl Post by: The Baron on January 29, 2007, 09:00:41 PM Who do you think will win?
My pick has to be the Bears who've had an awesome defence all season long. Typically in the NFL a good defensive team can stiffle a good offensive team and a bad offence can score against an average defence. I think the Colts do actually have enough in their offence to score against Chcago but a lot depends on Peyton Manning who has messed up in the odd big game here and there. If he does here Brian Urlacher will murder him. Bears by a nose for me, although I dont think the points margin will be very big either way. Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: Newportlad on January 29, 2007, 09:05:20 PM Colts for me to win this.
Bears are too reliant on their running game, and their defence is overrated. The Colts defence has come on strong during the playoffs, and they are the most balanced team. They also have the best Quarterback and starting Wide Receivers in the league. They are worthy favourites in my opinion. Saying that, my NFL betting has been atrocious this year! Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: The Baron on January 29, 2007, 09:06:41 PM The Colts defence has come on strong during the playoffs, and they are the most balanced team. Good point. Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: Canuck on January 30, 2007, 08:29:44 PM Grossman cannot do it I dont think. I watched him when he was at U of Florida and I saw him play some big games and he never got it done.
Manning has been waiting for this for a long time and after the late drive v New England, he has it. Colts by atleast 10 Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: The Baron on January 30, 2007, 08:36:32 PM This whole game depends on Manning. If he plays the way he can, the Colts can win it.
Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: TightEnd on January 30, 2007, 09:55:37 PM my NFL column which I can't link to has the Colts at Evens (Ladbrokes) with a 7 point handicap
The Colts look like stopping the Bears running game, although a month ago that did not look possible but since then they have shut down Jamal lewis and Larry Johnson, and with that goes the Bears offense which has few receiving threats and a QB that always risks a stinker I actually like Bears to score less than 21 points at Evens with Ladbrokes too On the other side of the ball Manning is so creative he will find ways to score. They key to this is Joseph Addai the running back. He makes defenses respect the running option more than they did with Edge James last season which allows Manning a bit more time to find Harrison and the tight ends Colts for me, comfortably. Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: Horneris on January 30, 2007, 10:20:28 PM Inndianapolis will win, their offense is far superior.
Will be reasonably close though, closer than the betfair is currently suggesting making the Colts 1.43 and the Bears 3.25. Bears are on form. Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: ChipRich on January 30, 2007, 10:34:42 PM didn't know youu were a fan Horneris, but yeah i think Inndianapolis will win
Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: bobby1 on January 31, 2007, 07:35:43 AM Bears with the points for me. Indy's WR have slowed a little this season giving them less of a deep threat which means Manning has had to create slower shorter passing drives. In this game he is going to have to go thru Urlacher a lot which will not be easy.
I like the Bears running game here and I think Grossman is better than he has shown on some occasions so with 7 points or more they are my bet. Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: Royal Flush on January 31, 2007, 06:37:38 PM Bears are on form. lol no shit they are going to the superbowl. Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: lazaroonie on February 04, 2007, 11:32:33 PM cant get a much better start than that for the bears.
go bears... Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: 77dave on February 04, 2007, 11:38:05 PM colts offenceive line are scared of the bears D Too easy so far not counting chickens though
Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: ariston on February 05, 2007, 12:06:36 AM If the bears had a decent QB they would've been the shortest price favourite in this ever. The rain will count against the throwing game though so the Bears had to be a clear pick. I had a little on at betfair at 3.2 today which I think was huge, I was inteding laying in running but from what I've seen so far I don't think it will be neccessary. The Colts are really struggling with the zone blitz which I find astounding considering it how the Bears play.
Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: ariston on February 05, 2007, 12:07:56 AM and now I've boked them lol. Still can't see the Colts coming back I just wish Chicago would stop turning the ball over so easy
Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: Scottish Dave on February 05, 2007, 12:25:14 AM @ 3.05 i had to back the bears

Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: KingPoker on February 05, 2007, 03:45:19 PM wow what a game. It was great for me coz i ws out with a colts fan and the return touchdown in the first 30 secnds just devestated him. Brilliant Game- was easily the best superbowl i have seen in 5 years. Half time show was absolutely shit!! It was the perfect night- me and about 8 other mates had a lock in at a pub but we were the ones left in charge of the bar so we kept on serving one of the boys tequila slammers- no joke he must have had about 15 and spewed up bout 4 times! It was all a laugh til his mate helped him to the toilets and the drunk one decided to push his mate down the stairs. We found him unconcious at the bottom but came round really quick- very scary for a moment but of course we laughed our heads off after we knew he was ok! The best night i have had out in bout 3 years!

Title: Re: Superbowl Post by: Yogi-Bear on February 05, 2007, 04:41:42 PM Yup,
Good Game to watch. Shitter of a result. But best team on the day won. BLAH BLAH. I even enjoyed the half time show, which is strange as I don't really like Prince. But was better than most half time shows I've seen. Roll On WEMBLEY in October. Yogi |
