One other player, to my right, LAG with a vendetta, bets $25. I go to the chatbox and say 'I have the nuts' and reraise the pot.

He folds. I'm a bit fed up getting straights crushed when the board pairs, so just wanted to close the door right there. Is it legitimate to say this kind of thing in Omaha? Is it the best option?

Legitimate yes..stupid? definetly. it's a very tilty thing to to say and advising everybody you have the nuts everytime you hold the nuts will only cost you money in the long (and even short) run.

When you flop the nut straight ona  rainbow board you want people to pay for it. hell you have the backdoor flush possibility covered for 2 out of the 3 suits that are out there and can always get rid of someone on a turn.
don't be soo scared that the board will pair up. Sure it will happen sometimes but more often then not it won't.

Thanks boldie, concise as ever. I had a feeling that might be the case. I just seem to have had a huge number of outrdraws of late, this was desperation I suppose. First time it happened I reraised a massive amount and the guy called to hit a full house, I asked him 'what did you think I had?' and he replied 'Not enough chips' :) :)
I'm still on a learning curve with omaha. It's also referred to as 'OH', presumably cos I keep saying that at showdown :)

My friend, I reckon the main problem you have here is not learning Omaha. you are a capable card player (if a bit too tight). The problem you have is managing your bad beats, you seem to stew on them for a long time. If you would be able to distance yourself slightly from your game I think you'll see that it's the way you handle your bad beats that is costing you the most money and not getting out drawn.

I probably shouldn't say it as sooner or later we will play each other in a tournament again and I know I can tilt you within a minute by bringing up some old bad beat and thereby having you lay down the best hand (not that that has ever happened of course or that I've even tried  ;whistle; ;angel; ;) ) but it really is the weakest point in your game and as the only games we play are small ones I am not reliant on I might aswell let you know.

Yeah, I do steam pretty easy. Amazing what half an hour away from the game doing something else does to change things though. I'm losing the tight though, sadly. Just the other day I called a raise with QQ. :)
I remember with fondness one time I steamed in Stanleys. Friday night is so bingoish sometimes you're just glad to make it near the final table with a decent stack. I raise with AK on the button, BB reraises me. Hit K on ragged flop, bet half my stack. BB pushes all in with nutin, catches runner runner inside 100-1 shot. Some steam comes out of my ears. His friend goes 'nice hand buddy'. Steam is piping hot now, gushing at the dealer, as I stand to go. Dealer asks me to sit back down, pointing at my two remaining chips. . 'Nice hand?,' I query as I take my seat. 'Yeah, AK is a drawing hand,' he helpfully points to me.

Not as steamy as others though (you probably know who I mean). Player A with sizeable stack raises 1/4 of stack. Action folds round to player B who pushes all in. As action was going to player B, dealer mucks hands of player A. Player A calls, demanding that pocket tens be retrieved from muck. Dealer asks if no objections, proceeds to sift through muck for player A's hand. Player B gets ready for all-in showdown, showing  Ahrt Aspades. Dealer still sifting muck, finds  Td Th, but while sifting also uncovers  Ts Tc. Small nuclear war breaks out between player B's ears, chair almost sent flying.  rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao
