Bummer. Anyone else taken the plunge? Buying a new MS operating system in the first week of release? *sharp intake of breath* I wouldn't touch a new version of Windows in the first year, never mind the first week. Wait until the first Service Pack is brought out. Title: Re: Vista Post by: ItsMrAlex2u on January 31, 2007, 06:29:21 PM Yeah i know.
Best i make a restore point before installing ! If it works, it looks pretty cool though Title: Re: Vista Post by: taximan007 on January 31, 2007, 08:53:14 PM will it work on my commodore 64

Title: Re: Vista Post by: tikay on February 01, 2007, 01:18:21 AM Vista makes XP look like DOS Yes, the three dimensional Menu is a big step forward (though utilises a lot of Memory), & of course it's just nonsense to suggest that they copied Apple. Gates IS the man. Title: Re: Vista Post by: ifm on February 01, 2007, 02:47:20 AM Vista makes XP look like DOS Really? Reviews i have seen say XP does the same stuff as Vista just it's a little easier. Also it's recommended you buy a new computer before getting Vista as it won't run on anything more than 6 months old :D Title: Re: Vista Post by: Zebediah on February 01, 2007, 09:32:44 AM Vista makes XP look like DOS Liked DOS actually, it does what you tell it to do, unlike Microsoft which tells you what you're going to do. I hope you bought it from the US, it can be nearly twice as expensive from the UK Title: Re: Vista Post by: Nem on February 01, 2007, 12:02:15 PM http://computers.search.ebay.co.uk/vista_Operating-Systems_W0QQfromZR34QQsacatZ11226

Title: Re: Vista Post by: CRIPPIN on February 01, 2007, 10:34:17 PM This seems to be the techi thread!! Can anyone help? I been knocked off poker sites, and other sites, as usual I'm having trouble with the ISP. One thing may have done it but I may be completely wrong, is it possible that by 'uploading' large files, videos etc., that the download can be affected?
Help would be much appreciated!!! Title: Re: Vista Post by: Nem on February 01, 2007, 10:43:06 PM This seems to be the techi thread!! Can anyone help? Title: Re: Vista Post by: Ironside on February 01, 2007, 11:03:14 PM if your uploading a file it will hamper your download speed which could cause you to lose connection

No, no vista Title: Re: Vista Post by: RichEO on February 02, 2007, 03:41:54 AM Disable the upload and play, if it works then you've fixed it. This was a thread about Vista, usually a new post for a different topic.
Here's my proper answer: Usually you can set a 'throttle' on your uploads, i usually set this to 10Kb/s this means my connection isn't brought to its knees. You could ask your ISP if they prioritise traffic etc, but with it being BT i'd guess that all their gaming traffic is properly prioritised and working (as they have a lot of users). However if you were uploading at high speed this is likely the cause. It wouldn't actually crash the software, but yes, make it take a very long time to download. Had Vista a few days. Not overly impressed so far, still finding my way about though. Now, how do I share my printer... |
