Title: Guess my opponents hand
Post by: TightEnd on September 23, 2005, 10:40:39 AM
OK, I'm playing in a private event freeroll organised at the Gutshot by Sportingbet and their stockbrokers Investec

The top 3 win a seat in a Gutshot comp, the winners of which get entry into Wsop 06. So why not?

I'm playing with complete beginners, and I'm hiding my rather dim light under a bushel

It's a brutal clock, the event has to be over by 1130 so Barry can open the club up for cash games

so 150-300 becomes 300-600 becomes 600-1200 etc. Gulp

Anyway we're an hour in and all I've done is peddle the nuts

I get six limpers, par for the course, blinds are 150-300, I've got 6000 and I look down on the button at

 asp ks

I pop it up to 1000 and they all call

The flop comes

  6h 8d qh

Checked to me, I bet...two callers

The turn comes

 4c

I bet, one caller

The river comes

 tc

I bet again and get called

and he shows?

Great call that man... he's obviously read the forum and has realised that many of the players will overplay AK off here!

And stuck to his guns!

Never bluff a mug, he does'nt no what your doing!

Quality advice from Mr Sassoon. If only I had read his premium content on

www.at-it.co.uk

before I played.

I recommend it to anyone

Missplayed the AK there I think. According to ironsides theory you should be all in by at the very latest the turn with ace high. AK can be tricky to play but put all your chips in and it always wins (so a mad scottsman told me anyway) ~:

Lol thankyou for the shameless plug tightend!

Tho i probably would have plaed it the same... Thinking surely he can't call a fourth bet lol! Tho have to agree with ariston, Ironside will tell you that you underplayed it and should've been allin before/on the flop!

(ironside "you did realise you had AK!!! did'nt you?" "these english who underplay AK no wonder i am the irish champion!")

sorry guys its a freezeout portion of the comp so with nearly 4k in the pot on the flop its either check it down or go all in as you have postion i would have checked the flop to get a freecard if there is betting before you on the turn i would then decide what to do but against novices i would more likely fold with no pair
