Title: Free Book Offer - Will the moderator decide please?
Post by: Mark S. on September 23, 2005, 01:38:49 PM
To the moderator of this forum.

I have recently posted an invitation for new players to have a free copy of a book about poker.

If you would be so kind as to decide whether this offer should stand or not.

It would appear that some members of this forum are not happy about it!

No one has suggested removing the offer! It wasn't the point several of us were making and you know that

Let's not make mountains out of molehills now

I'll leave the subject alone now

All the best!

Mark

Tikay is in Southend at the moment and is obviously busy. It is a tough choice for him as it is a close call. Can we all just leave it for a few hours and stop posting here or on the initial thread, that way it will all cool down a bit and we can see the wood for the trees.

Please don't anybody flame me by my suggesting we just keep the status quo as I am NOT saying DO NOT post but suggesting it as a stop gap, please.

it's all pretty strange this, i think peeps views have been tainted from past experience with you, what it's all about i don't know cuz i haven't got a clue who you are ???
I think it's a nice gesture seeing as it's free and you have nothing to gain unless it provides more than 20 orders which it's not likely to.
It's not as if you're selling stuff or taking a backhander here?

Hi UK POKER

I have never heard of you and I am not aware of any "form" you have had on other forums.
But I think you wanted to come on this site and ruffle a few feathers. I think this because of your
comment at the bottom of your free book offer post. Why put that? it's as though you want a
negative response, you got your wish. So at the moment you'll never get your way on this site.

P.S Send me a book and i'll put a good word in to Tikay for you.

Regards

M

Nope I am a boring old fart.

I have Class E Merc at the moment and that nice Jeremy Clarkson says it is for peeps without imagination. Now that can't apply to me, I often imagine I am ahead in a hand.

Certainly not the household policy, I don't have a chimney.

ITS SPAM but i will allow it to stand seeing as its mark s and he didnt tell you how to buy his book or the price of it

sorry havent much time just posting inbetween getting dragged out to my car so my newphew can unlock it

Mark S spam is along the lines of other spam we allow on the board although personally i would have prefered mark to be a registered member longer than 24 hours before applying his brand of marketing

but having spoken to tikay about this sort of thing yesterday we wont allow the board to be a shop for marketeers  there is a proper channel for that whcih people should use if they want to sell stuff on blonde and dont use the forum

I think that's fair.

Mark S, please contribute in other ways too please!

I agree that the definitation of spam is to SELL something.

I'm not selling anything. I'm giving away freebies.

If I came onto this form and said I'm giving away free copies of anything then it cannot be classed as spam.

As it is the first twenty people who replied to my original post will now receive the book. Names will be published, on this forum, by Monday so there can be no doubt as to who's going to get one and if they'll be getting one or not!

Actually there are lots of definitions of spam, it's anything that you get without asking for it, that you have no interest in.

Types of spam include:

Nigerian 401's
Dutch Lottery Scams
Chain Letters

These aren't selling anything, but they are spam :)

Basically it's anything that is self promoting, and uninvited:)

Jeez, I go away for 36 hours, & this blows up. Peace reigns in blonde, then this.......

I am heartened by many of the excellent responses, including by Heid (what a Diamond find THAT young lady is turning out to be!), Tight End, Robert, & Iron, who has been brave & strong  - I expect nothing less - in doing what he thinks is right.

I think we all know what is right & wrong for blonde, and the spam issue has been debated, agreed, & put to bed, where it sleeps peacefully.

I think the right course of action here is for me to write to Mark "off-Forum", via PM. I wanna be fair to him, so to comment further on Open Forum would be wrong.

But I promise everyone this - nobody is gonna hijack your Forum. This is a happy place, a fun place, "poker with a smile", where many of us enjoy spending some time. That's the brief Dave & I agreed at Day One, & that remains the brief. We are gaining Members at a goodly rate, & Corporate Sponsors, who help to finance our fun & our Live Updates, & they do so because it's the place it is.

So that's the way it will stay.

Thanks Dave. You have NO IDEA how much better your post makes me feel.

were ypou worried about your responce to the thread?

TBH honest i dont know this UKPOKER person, but obviously other do. I just feel he has came onto this forum in completely the wrong way, very aggressive etc.

UKPOKER, i mean no harm by this, i just feel a little "break yourself in" time would have been thoughtful.

Anyway, lets forget the whole thing, and get on with the ole game of poker.

Tikay, you been out on the sauce tonight mate, or are you just an insomniac?

Get to bed, you know you need that beauty sleep. :-*

I don't know about sauce, but we went into a chip shop In Sarfend at 4:30am and it was like walking into Stringfellows, full of lovely young things cavorting about, not buying food or eating you understand, just dancing, chatting and trying pull

The "birds" were all teenagers, but not one of them succeeded in pulling me.

And how does Red know what Stringfellas is like?

I thought the chippy was more like Annabelles. (Go on, ask......)

No need to ask mate, i play online with Mik, from Annabelles.

I told him about this place, and the Red-Dog, and he became a member a few weeks ago.
