Title: Torrent and MSN Live help
Post by: Nakor on February 07, 2007, 10:46:02 PM
Can any body help please.

Upgraded MSN Live recently and now I get a horrible little news pop up in bottom right hand corner of the screen - where can I turn it off ?

Torrent - Using BitComet on desktop, but I cannot then use internet on laptop connected wireless to the router.  Only downloading one torrent at a time, but IE or FF will not open a page in time no poker site will connect on laptop.  I have capped my upload rate, downloading at about 70kbs average.  Have 1meg BBand - anything I can do or is it just a bandwidth thing.

Any help appreciated.

There is definitely an option to get rid of the popup in the options somewhere because i got rid of it.
Though i had so many problems with WL i went back to an earlier version.

The lappy thing is odd, i would guess config problems.
Do you have full access if not downloading?

Sounds like the DNS lookup is failing. Check the TCP/IP properties of both PCs, to see what addresses they are using for the DNS servers. Windows XP should be obtaining them automatically (are they both on XP?).
Treewalk is a good bit of kit if you have network problems in windows, very good.

Cap your download rate as well. 70KB/s isn't too far off maxing out your connection. And what have you set your upload limit to? I'd have done 10KB/s or maybe a bit less.

You can turn off MSN Today by openning messenger main window. press the ALT key to bring up the menu, go to Tools -> Options, General, then the 4th checkbox down for me is 'Show Windows Live Today after I sign in to Messenger', uncheck this box and click OK.
