Title: Business Opportunity - authorised spam
Post by: AdamM on February 09, 2007, 10:54:14 PM

Firstly, I'd like to thank Blonde, and particularly Tikay, for helping me get my little business off the ground two years ago and, again, for letting me put this post up.

I have a business opportunity I'd like to offer to my follow Blondites before I sell it elsewhere. Most of you here know me well but for those who don't know my whole story this is it in brief.

Having lost a two jobs in quick succession a couple of years ago, one through redundancy and another through stress related illness, I decided to have a go at setting up a poker T-shirt business and making my living from a combination of that and playing poker. The cost of setting the business up and keeping a roof over my kids heads wiped out my bankroll and I was playing my poker hand to mouth. running the business and looking after the kids left very little time for poker anyway so the poker, the business and the family ALL suffered.

Long story short, last May, following some hard thinking and some good advice from friends, family and Blondites, I decided full time employment beckoned. I got a job test playing fruit machines for Mazooma Games. The T-shirt business ticked over on the side for a bit of pocket money but I did nothing to promote it and gradually it's died down. My only real custome over the last four or five months has been Dusk Till Dawn. If you glance over to the banner at the side of this page you'll see the clothing I've produced for DTD. I've enjoyed contributing to the DTD machine, if only in this small way but Robs needs are soon going to out weigh my ability to deliver on a part time basis so it's crunch time.

So, to the point. I've been given the opportunity at work to start designing my own fruit machines. My spare time needs to be spent with a sketch pad on my knee rather than slaving over a heat press. So I'm looking to sell my equipment and I wondered, before I stick it all on Ebay, if anyone on here would like to make me an offer. This is what's for sale.
-A large, heavy duty heat press which I've used to customise various items of clothing (like the DTD stuff to the right) as well as my own poker table baize
-A plotter for cutting the text / graphics from the flock
-A healthy stock of T-shirts and flock

I'd also show anyone buying this stuff all the tricks I've picked up since I started doing it, as well as providing some supplier details.

If you think you might be interested, drop me a PM and we can discuss it further.

While I'm at it, I'd like to thank all the Blondites who've bought shirts off me, especially those who purchased when I was starting out and probably wasn't very good. I was learning as I went and the quality of my work certainly improved over time

Thanks

AdamM

It's not Spam, it's a genuine, long-term Member selling something.

Adam has been a blonde since Day One - literally (he helped with our first Live Update from Copehagen in January 2005) - & we wish him well.

I'd love to have a job testing fruit machines - well probably for the first day - how does that work?

Trouble is Ding, it costs a fortune and you have to remember to bring in loads of change everyday.

I roll a new fruit machine up to my desk, link it up to my pc and hammer 10,000 games onto it, looking for visual faults, software errors, potential design enhansements and, of course, checking that it runs on percentage.

designing them is where the fun starts. got lots of ideas i want to try.

What percentage are they set at or can the owner set it to what he likes within reason?

both.

It'll say on the machine. usually 78% in pubs. lower in service stations and clubs. they can be changed within reaso but the machine will say the minimum and that's guaranteed.

I thought it was possible to chip'em with a lower payout, of course at the risk of being prosecuted?

nobody makes £500 a day.

It is possible to make a living playing fruit machines but most who say they do, make a loss over quite a short period.

fruit machine owners wouldn't have the ability to put new chips in fruit machines. only fruit machine companies can do that.

It IS posssible to make £500 a day from fruit machines, but the owners get upset when you nick their machines.

Hope you get a buyer Adam.

The design thing is all quite exciting, getting to use your creative muscles again. Very best of luck.

I thought the whole swizz was that the cheat modes and tricks all helped you win, but still not enough to overcome the payout %.

When you have the trick, you think you have the edge, and some of those guys who know what bars to press and when, are the biggest donaters week in/week out.

I heard there was no substitute to playing the things when some other mug has filled it up for you. The guys who make money off them all have fill keys to gauage a bandit's willingness to pay at any particular point. If it's not ready to pay, they won't play.

The day I met some joker going around with his key making £600 a week, was the day I never touched the things again.

Sofa, you must be talking about the fortune 2000 machine. it's not one of ours but we have one in our office at the minute. we're logging it but our hunch it that it's a 20,000 game cycle. ie, in that many games there'll be a set number of loses and wins, of which there'll be a set number of each win, including only 1 £2000 jackpot. shuffle them up and off you go. my boss used to do the same thing as your mates when he played them for a living. get machines in and log them. his last year playing them he made over £70k. but that was after an £8 year, a losing year, a £2k year, etc. he makes more designing them than he ever could playing them.

there aren't any cheat modes, just 'enriched periods'. keys / sharking. yep that's the only way to win. know how to play the machine when it's comps are full, learn how to spot when it's comps are full, know where to find the full machines. that said, I spend a bit of time skulking around the fruit machine forums and I can tell you that the theorys these so called pro slotters come out with are very far off the mark. long term the only winner is the cash box.

hold'em fruit machine. maybe. theres alot of video poker in development and ther tests are doing ok. trouble is it's hard to jam the poker thing into a standard fruit machine format and it still bare any resemblence to actual poker. I'll be giving it some thought though.

julian, struggling to get your figure back after the baby mate? usually it's no refunds but for you, ofcourse.

The best value machines are to be found in the bookies as they are usually over 80%.

By the way I don't play them but just used to work as a betting shop manager.
