Title: Re: what do u think he has?? Post by: boldie on February 14, 2007, 12:13:34 PM 550 in the pot and he bets 1200? That screams over pair to me..might have gotten lucky and hit his set of 4's and is scared of the next card making someone a straight.
Assuming he's a half decent player I would be more inclined to say over-pair (probably 9's or tens). I'd reraise him here as a high card will scare him off anyways and he might be inclined to push here and now. Min raise to 2400 (which means you have 2500 back which is 25BB's) and hope he pushes. Title: Re: what do u think he has?? Post by: boldie on February 14, 2007, 12:22:40 PM I'm hoping he pushes so I call there. (I am more inclined to take him for an over pair then I am for the made straght or trips)
If he calls then he will most likely check the turn if a scare card comes down (if he does have an over pair like 9's or tens) but the pot is big enough to move all in on now as there is 5300 in there and you have 2500 back so even with an over pair he can call that. If an Ace or King comes down and he moves in I would think that he's been playing AK poorly and again call. The chips will be going in on the turn unless the 5 which is the only scare card for me (just incase he's been playing Aces badly..he could ofcourse have AK aswell and play them poorly) Essentially the 5 is the only scare card for you on the turn and every other card my chips would be going in Title: Re: what do u think he has?? Post by: hotdog on February 14, 2007, 12:26:57 PM he moved in on the flop i was thinking bout it for ages.i nearly made right decision to fold being as he had set of 4s but i dont think ther is any way i can fold.i jus wanted some clarfication as to wheather i played it right.the best of it was the next card was a 3 so if he called i defintly wasnt folding on the turn. :respect: boldie
Title: Re: what do u think he has?? Post by: LeKnave on February 14, 2007, 12:29:55 PM Im shoving the 5K in on the flop as i dont want the sickening feeling of min raising and him flat calling for a 4 or 5 to appear on the turn.
I think its pretty obv he has 55-88 so for me im shipping the 5K in after he bets 1200. The upside of the min raise is that the BB is still to act, but id take the risk and hope he hasnt checked 56/A5/bigger 2pr. Because if u min raise to 2400 and the bb shoves i dont think ul be folding with 2500 left. Title: Re: what do u think he has?? Unlucky that he had his set but you played it well enough. Sometimes there's nothing you can do but get up, have a drink, go over the hand once or twice and then focus on the next game. Title: Re: what do u think he has?? Post by: temp0r on February 14, 2007, 03:29:06 PM it's pretty much always gonna be aces or a set. if you shove you get called by either anyway due to the 'aces complex' he will just assume you're drawing and call without considering a set or two pair. if it's a set you're unlucky. the reason you play 23 off suit is to get into situations like this. so when you're in them you can't exactly back down.
