Title: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: byronkincaid on February 15, 2007, 04:01:00 PM Bunch of people playing on the Crypto HU tables who refuse to play you if you're not a total fish. They don't do the honerable thing and leave the table, they just sit out and open up another table for themselves. I had the same guy sitting out on 5 tables a while ago. Seems kinda sad to me, I played about 5 hands with another one and he refused to play any more. They seem quite happy to admit what they are doing.
Intelligent players with good table selection or buncha tight arsed nitty cowards? Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: boldie on February 15, 2007, 04:02:01 PM tight arsed nitty cowards

Intelligent players with good table selection or buncha tight arsed nitty cowards? So if you had the choice between playing someone who is world class and could very easily take you for everything you have or playing against someone who you know you can wipe the floor with and pay for all your bills then who would you pick? I'd take it as a compliment that they don't think your a soft touch and go in search of the same fish they are after. Next time someone does this to you watch them to see who they will play against (and therefore class as the easy money fish) then do your upmost to seek these players out to play against getting in before the players who wont play you in the first place - that will really get up their noses!! ;) Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 15, 2007, 04:29:04 PM On Crypto right now there is a 6 seat $25/$50 NL table with a waiting list of nine!
What is the point of being the ninth person on that list - if you think it's going to be a good table now it's hardly likely to be once the eight guys ahead of you have taken their seats. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: matt674 on February 15, 2007, 04:32:51 PM On Crypto right now there is a 6 seat $25/$50 NL table with a waiting list of nine! What is the point of being the ninth person on that list - if you think it's going to be a good table now it's hardly likely to be once the eight guys ahead of you have taken their seats. Perhaps they only have 1 or 2 tables open and therefore if you want to play $25/$50 you have to queue up? (don't frequent crypto cash games so wouldn't know how many $25/$50 are on the go during the day) Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 15, 2007, 04:38:43 PM On internet tables there is always a free table - when one fills another empty one opens up. If these guys all wanted a game that much, six of them could just sit down at the free table.
Which makes me think there's someone they really want to play at the full one... Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: matt674 on February 15, 2007, 04:40:36 PM perhaps none of them want to feel like Billy-no-mates and sit at an empty table waiting for it to fill

Post by: AndrewT on February 15, 2007, 04:45:06 PM Which makes me think there's someone they really want to play at the full one... or that the players have larger stacks than the maximum buy in Yeah, that must be the reason - there's $57,000 on a 6max $5000 buyin game. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: Sheriff Fatman on February 15, 2007, 04:45:38 PM Does Crypto not lift them from the table after they've sat out for a certain period of time?
Fairly standard stuff to implement if not. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 15, 2007, 04:48:04 PM Does Crypto not lift them from the table after they've sat out for a certain period of time? Fairly standard stuff to implement if not. I could be wrong but I think you only get lifted if you're sitting out when there's a waiting list. If there's no waiting list you can sit there for as long as you like. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: Tragic on February 15, 2007, 05:10:36 PM Generally if "Deemaj" is at the 25/50 on crypto there will be a huge waiting list. He has donked off a hell of alot put in 2k preflop with K4s few days back i was so confused when i saw his hand. All in for his other 3k after the flop :).
Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: ACE2M on February 15, 2007, 05:21:31 PM I 've done it when really trying to make money, i usually explain it to the oppo though. Along the lines of why should we battle it out for ages eventually running monster into monster for someones buy in when we can just sit here and clean out a steady trickle of dickheads giving their money away.
Seems fine to me. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: thetank on February 15, 2007, 05:23:39 PM Sit at all their tables with minimum buy-ins till they run out of roll.

I've come to an arrangement on my main site that I don't play a couple of guys heads up, just no point. The games go on for ages and the only winner long term is the site. Seems fine to me. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: matt674 on February 16, 2007, 10:39:48 AM It would be just my luck to wait in line to get a seat at this table only to have my Kc Ks cracked after going all in preflop against him while he's holding 3d 9d

Post by: AndrewT on February 16, 2007, 11:02:37 AM For those of you wondering what type of player Deemaj is, here is the classic 're-re-raise out of the small blind with AJo, then calling the subsequent all-in and suckout' tactic. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 16, 2007, 01:09:06 PM Deemaj now has $28,000 - no one else really has more than the $5,000 buy-in.
Rory Matthews is next on the waiting list. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 16, 2007, 02:25:37 PM Deemaj raises UTG with KJ, is called by Monsieur on the button with 77.
Board is A4456 - Deemaj three-barrels and Monsieur calls him all the way - $5500 pot. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 16, 2007, 02:31:19 PM Board is 4468 - Deemaj has 97 and bets $1000 into a pot of about $2500 and is raised to $6500 by QQ. Deemaj has $9000 back and calls the extra $5500 to hit his eight outs, with only $3500 in his stack for the river.
River is a 10. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: KingPoker on February 16, 2007, 02:44:33 PM Am railing deemaj now for a bit of entertainment!

Post by: AndrewT on February 16, 2007, 04:10:46 PM Short stack raises, cptcrunch flat calls, as does Deemaj.
Flop T83, shortstack pushes rest in wth JJ, cptcrunch flat calls with his KK so as not to chase Deemaj away. Unfortunately for him, Deemaj has TT and has flopped top set. Deemaj up to $36,000. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: kinboshi on February 16, 2007, 04:15:14 PM Is that more people wanting to throw their money at him?
Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 16, 2007, 04:57:46 PM Three way all-in preflop.
Shortstack - KK cptcrunch - QQ Deemaj calls with AQ You can kind of guess which card fell on the flop. Deemaj up to $46,700. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: kinboshi on February 16, 2007, 04:58:58 PM Bet they took that well...

Shortstack - KK cptcrunch - QQ Deemaj calls with AQ You can kind of guess which card fell on the flop. Deemaj up to $46,700. I saw that one. When somebody runs that hot it is probably a good idea to find another table, lol. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: AndrewT on February 16, 2007, 05:45:13 PM Deemaj says 'c u later' at 5:42pm with $43,500 and leaves the table.
One other player immediately leaves, another sits out. The next person in the waiting list sits down, sees Deemaj isn't there any more, and immediately leaves. The sitting out player then leaves. Table collapses completely within one minute. Title: Re: Clever Strategy or The Wheel Clampers of Poker? Post by: Tragic on February 16, 2007, 06:00:35 PM He is my hero
