Title: GUKPT Walsall hand
Post by: TightEnd on February 16, 2007, 06:56:02 PM
the event itself was a bit of a nightmare for me as I lost most of my chips a bit later on but this was an interesting one

Thoughts please

blinds 75-150

I have 10,300

UTG, aggressive talented blondeite limps. He has 7,000. His modus operandi is bluffing, pushing people off hands. So far in this comp people have been calling him and he has leaked chips

I am in MP with  Ahrt Js

I limp, slightly wary of UTG limp and not wanting to build a pot with a marginal hand that early in a slow structured comp. I know I will get called by one of the blinds and UTG if I do raise

SB, loose fish/calling station/unconventional completes. He already has 14,000

BB checks

flop

 2h 2s Jd

SB bets out 300 into 600 pot

BB passes

UTG flat calls

over to me...I raise to 1,000 just to see where I am.

Both call

Turn  Tc, which changes nothing. Probably

It goes check check to me

Should I fire again?

Is a check too weak?

In my mind.....

Might UTG be slow playing a monster?

has to SB got trip 2s....? difficult to give him credit for these, his range of hands here is WIDE!!

THIS IS NOT A BAD BEAT STORY!

and yes, with hinsight I suppose I raise pre-flop and flat call on flop, but there you go!

What information did you get from your raise?

you raise to see where you are but you don't seem to know where you are ???

I think you raised for value but you should now slow down, check the turn and reevaluate on the river.

I don't think there is any value is betting here and you are susceptible to a check raise from the sb or a c/r bluff from flushy(?)

I would check and be worried only if the sb comes out firing on the end.

I dont give fishy player respect for having the 2. Only player im fearing is UTG limper. Given action so far i think you have to check the turn. He could well have big pp and be slowplaying/playing a small pot with the hand.
On river if the card is a J or lower im calling most bets from SB (fishy type right, they ALWAYS slow-play hands), but not a sizable bet from limper.
At this moment in time i think your hand is probably good.

I check

River is  9s

SB bets 1,600

UTG raises to 3,600

I pass (frankly, thinking cutely played overpair)

SB shows  Jh 6c

UTG shows  Jc 9h for the rivered two pair

Whole thing made me wonder if I should have taken off on turn, and if I had whether either would have passed JJ22x!

maybe bet 1500 on turn then check behind on river?

Raise pre. If you limp though you have to make a much bigger bet on the flop, at least 2k.
