If it had been me I would have said something like 'Yep, I just have to avoid that pesky 5th five and I win' Although she would never be back on the show lol.

I know what it's like to make a glaringly obvious mistake and be the only person who doesn't realise it, I've done it so many times, but I still shudder when I think about it.

I was talking to a reporter once about amateur boxing and somehow in my mind I got the words "adrenalin" and "urine" mixed up. I kept saying things like "When the urine starts pumping" and "Sometimes it's only urine that keeps you going"

I have nothing but sympathy for Norman.

I'm sure we've all done it at some point, especially at a crucial point of a tourney - cheering with delight as the third heart drops on the river to give you the nut flush, giving the air a quick fist pump as you watch the chips sliding to your opponents then the dawning realization that the board had paired and you're out of the tourney........

Having never watched this on sky poker could someone just give me a quick explanation on how it works? Is the tournament prerecorded before the show goes out even though the show is live? Seems a slight advantage half way through the hand to have the studio commentator say "Oh and look your opponent in the pot has also flopped a lower full house"!! :D

Hi Matt,

Para 2 first. No, the Tourney is not pre-recorded, but it runs 5 mins ahead of the TV show, so there can be no funny business. So we are always reveiwing action that took place 5 or more minute ago.

As to making mistakes on a hand, yes, I agree with you, we've all done it, "missed" the obvious. I hit my flush last week for a huge pot in a Live Tourney, geezer shook my hand, "hard luck tikay". Eh? He'd paired up & hit his boat, & I'd missed it. Doing it on Live TV is a bit of a nightmare, especially when someone then goes & makes fun of you!

Norman Pace is gonna be devestated about this thread, he's been a blonde for an absolute age, & reads blonde Forum from top to bottom every single day, & is one of life's most genuine men. Technically, the show is as tough as it gets, it's excruciatingly difficult in fact, & he made a mistake. Given the amount I make, it's a wonder I've not been shot at dawn! Yes, he's in the public eye, & so there to be thrown stones at, but if his missus starts lobbing 'em back, you'd better hide!

Chin up Norman (blondeite "spiny"), we love you. Not much like, but a bit.

cheers Tikay for explanation - so as you are running through hands live on tv the tournament is still being played?

In the clip that was featured in this thread you can see all the cards that the other players have passed as well as the ones that are currently still in play (even though they were from 5 minutes earlier).

Surely this is a massive advantage to those in the studio or are watching the program on sky as they play over those who don't have access to the program as they can work out how all the other players at their table play? How many times they bluff, whether they always have the goods when they check raise, their starting hand requirements when they bring in for a raise etc etc etc.

True Matt. But folks know when they enter that hands are gonna be reviewed on the show while the Tourney is in progress, it's a £10 Tourney, & many players enter it for that very reason, so their play can be analysed on Live TV & they are gonna grt name-checked.

When the 'celebs' bust out of the main tourney they play in STTs.  As the show is live these are obviously in real-time.

So, if a celeb was stupid enough to announce that he had a particular hand - say, for argument's sake J7o on a KJ3 board - then his opponent would be at a huge advantage if he was watching the telly.

Obviously, no one would be that stupid - would they... ;D

last night tikay was discusted at a call by dingdell with q5, wha he has failed to notice was it was 100 to call the allin and she already had 200 on the bb so was getting 6-1 odds with the q5. Nobody  slaughtered him for it. Leave norm alone, on live TV its easy to make mistakes ( I myself got up to shake my opponents hand on the turn in a live TV game when he still had 2 outs, he didnt look best pleased and if he had hit the mircale runner runner I would've looked a right prat). The show is inspired and the software is very user friendly, all blondites should have a go especially when Tikay is on as it gives you a chance to take the mick of him (what on earth was the pink shirt all about grandad?)

Exactly, & you can slate me all day & night Matt!

I'm probably not explaining myelf very well here. What I'm trying to say is, look, the "Expert" has 3 peeps from the Gallery talking to him via his earpiece, he's trying to read a "heads-up" display beamed into a bright green floor, & it's beamed "back to front" for technical reasons, & while thats going off, is trying to make a possibly average hand look exciting & entertaining. So even a really top notch analyser is gonna get it wrong sometimes.

But if it generates publicity for the show hey, so be it.

Like I say, I'm ready & waiting for when I get it wrong - pile in boys, please! Not that there's much chance of that - when did I ever misread a hand, eh?

The pink shirt? Groan.....

But as you commented, it works like this.

Sky buy my "wardrobe", shoes trousers shirts, jackets, the lot. I go to my Dressing room & this evening's ensemble is laid out for me, all freshly laundered & ironed, & I just wear what they tell me to. I do think they are having some fun at my expense, I mean, PINK! But if you think that was iffy, watch out, they have some really "interesting" gear on the "tikay" rack in wardrobe. I can't believe they are doing this to me..... All good fun though, & I'm not ashamed to admit, I'm loving being part of it.

It was me actually :)

I have noticed that it isn't immediately obvious from the graphics on the TV screen when hands are played back who is in the blinds, where the button is etc, so I presume it wasn't obvious to Tikay when he was commentating on it either.  Perhaps that's something that can be fed back and looked into?  One other thing while I'm at it - it would be good to be able to see players' chipstacks after they've acted, as well as whether they have called/raised etc.

Tikay any expert should be able to recognise that 55 is drawing deal on this flop pretty quickly! Regardless of the distractions around you!

99% of blondes would tell you 55 is drawing dead even if there was a hand grenade going off near by....

Noted Claire, thanks, & yes, it's already been noted, & will be corrected in the next software upgrade.

The show is still in "soft-launch" mode, using, primarily, blonde as a channel for feedback, these glitches will all be sorted before the "Hard-Launch".

Keep the feedback coming.

i think a number of people have taken this post out of the context it was meant.

rookie posted it as a joke, nothing more nothing less. he didnt post it to slate normans integrity as a presenter, analyst or indeed him being a throughly nice guy.

Norman used to be in a very successful comedy double act which the majority of the time involved the two of them setting each other up and taking the piss out of each other. As they say a good comedians can laugh at themselves.

im sure norman can see the funny side of this and take the thread and link in the manner it was posted , tongue in cheek.

over sensetivity seems to be a problem on blonde at the moment and with people overacting claiming norman would be "devestated" by the thread in my opinion is over the top.

On the overside of the coin a few are overly critical. You try standing up for 4 hours analysing hands projected onto a green floor 6 feet away and not make a mistake.

Norman is a top guy and a great member of the skypoker team, long may it continue.

so some are being overly critical of Norman and some are being overly critical of those criticising Norman?

You haven't really left much room for anyone to post an opinion either way.

what about if you just coin a couple of phrases for those that want to join in the fun and those that think it inappropriate and they can just copy those.
