Title: regarding the . thread or Thread of many farces Post by: Newmanseye on February 24, 2007, 01:42:48 AM I never got to say buy i do suspect that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95qn1Jqtegs will find its way on to a Barry norman style show in the future, its one of those timeless gaffes that everyone will have a laugh about and i am sure that Norman by this point has gone through the Cringing stage and is now on to the " Sh*t Happens" stage of thinking.
I for one wont forget to tune in to sky poker next time Norman is presenting so thereis a positive side to all cockups. What i find is a shame is the way some of our so called mature members seem to behave when this thing happens, If only people would consider what they post before they click we might not have as many childish arguments. Pointing no elbows but the defenders of over opinionation know who they are and I believe they know what they are doing regardless of how tempers may get the blame. Oh dear i have turned this in to a Small rant, I apologise to anyones cat, dog, goldfish, Son, daughter, father, auntie or brother in law that may be offended and hope that we can all be friends till the next time we meet over a poker table. Peace out, happy hunting and have fun. Title: Re: regarding the . thread or Thread of many farces Post by: Newmanseye on February 24, 2007, 01:52:28 AM I love making up words, although i'm sure most people will know what i mean.
Title: Re: regarding the . thread or Thread of many farces Post by: Horneris on February 24, 2007, 04:28:21 AM Rookie didnt mean any offence. I found it quite amusing.
Im sure the presenter will look back and laugh too. Title: Re: regarding the . thread or Thread of many farces Post by: Newmanseye on February 24, 2007, 04:35:19 AM Rookie didn't mean any offence. Please don't get me wrong, i had a laugh at the post rookie put up, there was no malice in his post from what i could see, its what followed afterwards when the opinion brigade and the defenders of the realm get involved, just a colossal clash of the handbags...... He didn't even realise what he did the first time around! Wasn't there a producer screaming in his ear-piece? Wasn't there a producer screaming in his ear-piece? I find it hard to understand why you would think someone deserves to be mocked just because they made a mistake. The fact that they are well paid doesn't make them infallible. What would the person doing the mocking hope to gain? I find your attitude even more amazing considering the fact that you are a dealer. Do you really manage to do your job, day in, day out, without making mistakes. Do you enjoy seeing your fellow dealers mocked when they make a mistake, do you encourage people to mock them? I just don't get it. Title: Re: regarding the . thread or Thread of many farces Post by: KeithyB on February 24, 2007, 12:38:35 PM I don't think the original thread was put up to mock Norman Pace but was just put up as friendly banter in the same sort of way as Kev got stick for revealing his hand on live tv.
It is a classic clip and one that is clearly really funny. But I'd like to think that Norman would realise that the prevalent blonde spirit here is to laugh with him about this rather than at him. As Red says any mockery of this incident is totally wrong because it's just an honest mistake that we all can make from time to time. Plus our mistakes are usually made without extra pressures of learning new tv technology and being under live scrutiny! In context it's one mistake in a four hour long live show and I hope Norman can look back now and have a giggle about it. Actually he must find it amusing because I noticed that last night his employers at sky poker, during some technical difficulties with the live show, actually ran that very self same clip last night during a montage entitled "best of skypoker" !!! I'm sure that they wouldn't have rerun the clip without checking Norman was ok about it. I just don't get it. Dont look into it too much mate! The geezer mate a right royal screw-up, and it's human nature to poke fun at peoples errors, EVERYBODY does it, it's the essence of comedy. Christ, i'm hardly going to dance on his grave and burn his house down! It's all light-hearted enough. Like Keithy said, even the geezer who did it realised what a wally he'd been and was able to laugh at it. I hardly ever mess up on the table, i've been grinding this out for a living for too long. But I assure you that when I do, i'll be the first person to take the piss out of myself. You cant deal at The Vic without having the ability to take anything that comes your way with a huge grin and shrug it all off. Let's all eat some chocolate or something... :)up |
