Title: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: Nem on February 25, 2007, 09:45:36 AM Who deleted it?
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: thetank on February 25, 2007, 12:25:18 PM The moderators, consensus thing.
You can talk about it here as much as you like, and swap those sorts of links by pm if you want. Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: Nem on February 25, 2007, 12:37:49 PM Well, just delete the links and place a warning on the thread, instead of just deleting it.

Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: AdamM on February 25, 2007, 02:11:20 PM oops. I like Blonde being a moderated place. I'd rather it be over moderated than under, but this is pretty inconsistant.
We've had far less tasteful vids on the youtube thread. Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: AdamM on February 25, 2007, 06:02:09 PM well, I've seen the fight in question.
I don't think it's particularly offensive but I also don't think we need a link to it. apart from anything else, it's rubbish. neither of them would last one round in the UFC or in the ring. Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: Rod Paradise on February 25, 2007, 06:06:15 PM Fighting's fighting and personally I'm Ok with it as long as there's someone looking out for the safety of the fighters. If the fight had been over when Kimbo was down for 20 count, then fine, to see his 'friends' and supporters shouting to get him up, letting him take another count over 20, stand him up again was sick, and not right for the board IMO.
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: AdamM on February 25, 2007, 06:17:18 PM I'd agree. if people want to see these guys knock seven shades out of each other they can easily go and find it themselves. I won't be wasting any more time on them.

I agree, it was a bit pathetic to see his "supporters" (ie the people who had bets on him to win) all egging him on to continue when he was clearly spent and was only going to walk into more injury and pain. In another of Kimbo's fights, he knocks this guy down 4 or 5 consecutive times. Even though the guy is clearly out of his league, he continues to get up and try and fight. Lot of guts that guy had but eventually after the 4th or 5th kncokdown his mate comes over and despite his protestations he tells him to just stay down as he is never going to win. That's what should have happened here. I personally don't see a problem with showing the fight but I guess it's personal boundaries etc and you are always a fair minded guy Rod, even when you've been knocking back the buckfast, so fair play fella. :)up Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: Sark79 on February 27, 2007, 12:07:28 PM Surely this guy can't be in the same league as a proper boxer?
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: AdamM on February 27, 2007, 01:37:31 PM i don't think so, no. nor a decent MMA fighter
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: smithy69 on February 27, 2007, 01:48:46 PM He is a poor excuse of a MMA fighter(if you can call him that). If you look at the people he beat in the street fights they are nothing more than the average joe public throwing a punch. He hits reasonably hard, but has no technique whatsoever. The guy that beat him is a poor MMA fighter, so what does that make Kimbo.
He has no takedown defence, or attack - and has zero ground skills. He shouldnt even be classed as a MMA fighter, or boxer - he is just a over average built man who can throw punches I reckon me or vinni could beat him !!!!!!lololololol Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: Nem on February 27, 2007, 01:53:59 PM Who are the best UFC/MMA fighters?
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: AdamM on February 27, 2007, 01:59:35 PM Who are the best UFC/MMA fighters? Heavy Weight. current champ - Tim Silvia contenders Randy Couture, Mirko Cro Cop, Andre Arlovski Light heavyweight Champ Chuck Liddell Contenders Quentin Jackson, Tito Ortiz Mickael Bisbing (British fighter) Forest Griffin Middle weight Champ Anderson Silva contenders Rich Franklin plus several on the fringe some big fight coming up over next few months. Welterweight George StPierre Contenders Matt Serra, Matt Hughs plus several on the fringe pound for pound is easily Matt Hughes, with Chuck Liddell 2nd. My top fighters would be Hughes,Liddell, Franklin and St Pierre!!! In the past maybe. when he was predominantly a wrestler he looked unbeatable. now he's making the effort to be an more rounded fighter he looks like he's lost it. George St Pierre stuck him with a couple of stiff jabs and he didn't look like he fancied the job. he tried a few takedowns and when they failed he was out to see. I hacve money on Chris Lytle to beat him Saturday. Hughes is definitely favourite but Lytle hits harder than GSP so if he can connect it might be an upset. If 2+2 can get barry greestein to say "lol donkaments" on HSP surely we can go one better and get kimbo over to have a fight in the carpark with smithy. Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: smithy69 on February 27, 2007, 02:32:02 PM lololol
No doubts he may have a decent punch, but against any above average fighter he wont win!!!!! Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: NoflopsHomer on February 27, 2007, 02:41:47 PM When I stayed in the Wynn last summer, I ended up playing some $1-$3 NL with Ken Shamrock.

I mean, do they make good money ( able to retire on money after a few years ) ?
I watch a lot of boxing, but I have not seen a lot of this cage or street stuff before. Didn't Tyson consider doing this at one point? You'll DEFINIANTLY see Tyson in UFC eventually Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: smithy69 on February 27, 2007, 03:31:29 PM tyson would last about 30 secs before being submitted
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: bolt pp on February 27, 2007, 03:36:48 PM tyson would last about 30 secs before being submitted I doubt that, most of the top MMA boys are predominantly strikers. Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: smithy69 on February 27, 2007, 03:51:55 PM but have the ability over years of training to avoid take downs - he doesn't
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: bolt pp on February 27, 2007, 03:55:25 PM Of course not, but i dont think he would need it, look at butterbean ::)
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: smithy69 on February 27, 2007, 04:09:34 PM butterbean has been beat easily by takedowns!!!!!!!!!!!
I will lay you odds on tyson getting mashed in his 1st fight Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: bolt pp on February 27, 2007, 04:22:33 PM He'll get a soft first fight in the UFC so i dont think it will matter!
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: thetank on February 27, 2007, 04:23:52 PM If they relax the rules on eating your opponents face, Tyson may be in good stead.
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: Rod Paradise on February 27, 2007, 04:33:11 PM When I stayed in the Wynn last summer, I ended up playing some $1-$3 NL with Ken Shamrock. Easy to tilt up (just ask about his time as a WWF wrestler) - but would you really want to? Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: AdamM on February 27, 2007, 06:28:28 PM on the wrong thread here. lets move over to the fighting thread
Title: Re: Kimbo Slice Thread Post by: JungleCat03 on February 27, 2007, 07:18:30 PM UFC cat hall of fame.
Tank Abbot is the funniest UFC fighter there has been. No frills nutter. Hoyce Gracie was the man who started it all. LEGEND. Kimo, for best pantomime entrance carrying a cross. Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock for best feud. Did anyone(adam?) ever see the vale tudor where Rickson Gracie won it. He beat a guy known as Dragon Slayer in the final. This guy was about 9/10 stone and 5'2 or soemthing but beat a guy weighing 350 lbs+ in the first fight and a 6`2 inch savatte champ in the next round. By the time he got to the final he was in very bad shape, especially to be fighting someone as good as Rickson and lost, but the guy was truly amazing to overcome such weight, height and reach deficiencies. Sean Gannon, the police officer who beat Kimbo, came to Burnley at the start of the year and fought a guy named Ian Stansfield in a 24hr Asda car park and got demolished inside 4 mins. |
